Erudite, you're generally a very reasonable individual, so can you explain how in the blue hell you concluded that Paul is overlooked?

That commercial was for the state of Louisiana. Pretty good IMO.

Little word to the wise if you are trying to make a case for Deron's All-Star snuff, dont mention last years accomplishments for this years achievments... it's ridiculous, dont sit here and say Deron should be an All Star for the way he torched the Spurs in last years WCF.

Had we made it through December on a winning note, Utah would be #1 in the standings right now and Deron and Carlos would've both been All Stars. But since NO was sitting #1, and just happen to host the game, the rest is history

If they switched teams, Paul would be getting the shaft and Deron the glory. It is as simple as that.

+1

Also, today if you watched First Take, you probably noticed how Skip Bayless takes the Utah Jazz and Deron Williams over Paul and the Whorenets.

I am impressed, the people who are supposed to have a lose screw (Barkley and Bayless), are the ones who actually get it. Perhaps they really don't have a lose screw.

jesus christ, what're you bitching about? Deron is great PG. no doubt. CP3 leads team of noones for winning the west. It's not competition. Everyone sees it. CP3 is by far the best PG in the league

Filtered or not, this part wasn't necessary. -- loserX Paul isn't much better than Deron at all, and he definantly is NOT the best PG in the league. Nash could whoop his ass anyday.

pretty funny. You probably wasn't watching any of their games this season. So let's see. NO Hornets played four times Suns this season. Won EVERY one of them.

Nash- 21.25 PPG 10.7 Asists 5.0 TO 0.25 steals per game

Paul- 29 PPG 11 asists 1.0(!!!) TO 4 steals per game

if you call this whooping ass, then... yeah, whatever

How come head-to-heads are a great indicator of Nash vs. Paul, but a lousy indicator of Paul vs. Deron? ;)

(In earnestness, I think Paul is probably the better player right now, and is currently having a better season as a PG than Deron. But the proof, and bragging rights, will come when one or the other wins the big prize. As Trent Dilfer said, "I'd rather be the worst QB to win a Super Bowl than the best QB to not win one.")

I haven't searched for their match-ups, so I don't know if Deron overplayed him. But I saw at least three games of Paul vs. Nash and the two times MVP was humiliated by Paul. So I checked for the numbers...

To be honest, I hate Paul. I mean it. He's a lousy flopper in my eyes (and I lost some nice money when they beated Orlando. Btw that's probably the reason  ) But this kid can play as good as any PG since Magic. I agree about the winning case. Could anyone even imagine NO could lead a big West? And he has pretty comparable team to Deron's. Boozer and West are both very good while Boozer still better. Korver is as good shooter as Mo-Pete. Okur vs. Chandler is comparable with Kirilenko vs Peja. One of them has off. skills, one is better on defense. Both play under very good coaches.

Anyways Paul sucks against the Jazz because he can't penetrate down the middle as well in the Jazz scheme.

The problem with Paul is that when you shut down the lane his game goes away. And when his game goes away his team goes away. All teams are going to do in the playoffs is jam the lane up as tight as they can, focus on Paul and the Hornets will be ousted quickly.

All teams have to do is watch 3 of the 4 Jazz/Hornets game this season to see what you have to do in order to beat the Hornets. Play loose on Paul, stay between him and the basket, go under every screen and make him beat you with his jump shot because he can't do it.

If you sag off of him, he won't get into the lane, and when he does don't double team him. Make him beat you with his driving game, if he can't penetrate and kick, he can't run the offense.

Play man to man defense, don't switch on the pick and roll, show high with your big men, and let your wing players stick to their wing players on the perimeter.

If you stick with Peja he won't rain three's on you all night and he can't beat you with his penetration game. Same with Mo Pete, he can't beat you with out his three point game.

Let David West try to beat you with his back to the basket game. He's a hell of a player, but he can't carry a team over a 7 game series, especially over the likes of Boozer, Duncan, Nowitzki, Gasol, and Stoudamire.

All in all the Hornets are a fluke, they are a good regular season team who thrives on a finesse game. Wait until the stress of the playoffs kicks in and watch the cards fall.

I honestly think Paul's biggest weakness is his head game. I honestly honestly honestly don't think he can keep up with the mental stress and the physical wear and tear of the playoff game. Chris Paul has shown he breaks down under pressure. He did it last night, and after the Jazz frustrated him he broke. Deron Williams is obviously in his head and Paul can't react. What's going to happen when the Warriors starting pushing them around in the playoffs? What happens when Paul gets knocked on his ass a few times in the first game, how is he going to respond? When it happened in college it cost him a suspension. He is always whining to the refs about the physicality of the game. What happens in the playoffs when the physical game is what the refs expect to see? Does he break like they did last night, or does he step up to test?

Why is this thread even alive. We can't be bitter about every single time Deron Williams will be left out of a conversation and be completely ignored for Paul. This is Utah's Jazz, and we should have gotten used to this by the Stockton-Malone era.
