Boozer needed to say something that he was leaving him not just assuming that somebody else was going to pick him up. Korver was the guy guarding the ball and stuck choosing between the ball or Dirk.

Check on to this... Boozer lost his man... So Korver had to guard Dirk, and Jones had to be guarded by Okur on the paint because Boozer was hanging out ways back.

Boozer is a complete defensive (Please Use More Appropriate Word), mind the language. The guy I swear was born not to play defense.

So IF Dirk isn't Boozer's guy than who is he guarding standing there by himself when the ball was inbounded? He is standing at the ft line... Kidd passing it in, Terry and Jones on opposite sides. There was nobody within 5-10 feet of him when it is passed. Deron is by Terry.

Is Boozer's man Kidd or Jones?

Boozer's man may not have been Dirk but he sure isn't guarding anybody. Was his defensive assignment the air?

consider the lineup.

Dirk Nowitkzi - Mehmet Okur
Eddie Jones - Carlos Boozer
Devean George - Andrei Kirilenko
Jason Terry - Kyle Korver
Jason Kidd - Deron Williams

Boozer wasn't guarding Jones, and on the strong side, it was Korver and Okur against Nowitzki and Jones. Should Korver and Okur have switched, it would have been either a wide open 3 pointer, I guess, far more open than it already was, or a give and go to Jones for an uncontested layup. Okur did the right thing by sticking to Jones, and letting Dirk shoot the high percentage shot. Perhaps if Boozer wouldn't behave like child after an amazing play, we could have gone to OT and perhaps win the game.

that lineup ^ is most likely correct the problem is that Boozer wasn't on Jones and so it screwed it all up.

The fact is in a mess like that it is very easy to get beat by the opposing team on an outlet pass after hitting a shot like Deron did.

Everyone on the Jazz crashed the boards knowing that if Deron missed the Jazz needed to get the rebound.

The Mavs knew that if Deron made it they need to get down the floor, and if he missed then there isn't going to be much time left anyways.

No different then Deron going coast to coast against the LeBron's this year. It happens, it's annoying but it happens.

I agree with your point Bat, but the issue is that there was enough time.

Notice that Jones was guarding Korver. Devean George was guarding Boozer, and Jason Kidd was guarding Deron. They actually performed a switch, so now Boozer was being guarded by Fish, and after the shot, Jones came crashing into the board. Obviously he didn't get, and while Boozer was looking to his right, Eddie Jones started sprinting, and the rest was history.
