Tyrone Corbin under consideration for the Bulls HC job

Post#1 » by Fido » Mon Apr 28, 2008 8:29 pm

Reportedly Corbin is being considered for the Bulls head coaching position due to his experience as a player and coach in structured offensive and defensive systems. I know he has been highly regarded and the Jazz were happy to add him but didn't realize he was rising that fast.

I wondered if he wouldn't be a candidate for the Jazz head coaching position if/when Sloan ever finally retires (assuming Phil Johnson doesn't want the HC job).

He has no head coaching experience and a team like the bulls will not be hiring a guy like Ty. A team like the grizz, t-wolves and sonics would have been a good fit for him.

In all honesty if I was him I would wait here for 2-3 more yrs and become the new head coach here. The loyalty Miller gives his coaches is redic. Phil is older then Jerry so I cant see why he would take over the HC job after Jerry leaves.

My guess is Ty would get the HC and Hornacek is brought on as a full time assistant.

I think we all know he is the coaching in waiting here, for job security sake it makes sense for him to stay here.

Considering he hasn't ever had a full assistant coaching job my guess is he isn't anywhere near the front runner.

Guys like Mark Jackson, JVG, the coach from Indiana are all going to be higher on their list then Ty. Mix in the fact that Flip Saunders, Avery Johnson and Mike D'Antoni might be availble this offseason and it makes Ty's chances even that much thinner.

I think the Jazz want to have him, and would want Horny to be behind him.

I could really see Ty getting the job. He's a great assistant coach and I think he would make an even better head coach. Congrats to Ty!

good luck to him. but, I doubt that he gets it.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

all i can say is that after watching so many other NBA teams' style of play, I value the structure that Sloan and Johsnon bring. I absolutely hate watching the nuggets...when AI is one of your least selfish players you are not gong to be a succesful team.

Cheers for him. I loved Ty while he was with the Jazz. I can still remember his milk ads or whatever they were. I hope the whole coaching thing works our for him wherever he goes.

Ty Corbin needs to stay in Utah and take over for Sloan. It's either him or Adrian Dantley.

I also hope the Milkman waits out Sloan's career and becomes the next head coach of the Jazz. Funny how you never hear Scott Layden's name for head coaching jobs.

Because in all honesty he doesnt have the charisma or personality his dad had. Im sure Scotty understands the game, but he never striked me as anything more then a research assistant.

Phil Johnson is our coach when Sloan leaves no questions asked. How this guy never gets mentioned on other teams list is mystery no one can explain. He should be number one on everyones list every year

No, Phil Johnson will NOT be the coach after Sloan leaves. He is a great coach and everything and definantly a HOF assistant coach (if there is such a thing), but he's too damn old. People call Jerry old and say that he's a bad coach cus he's too old, but Phil Johnson is OLDER THAN JERRY!
