The 97 team was definitely better but to say if you put them in the NBA today they would dominate is funny, Timmy D owns the mailman

I honestly can't say I remember every time Duncan faced Malone, but in the 2004 WCF, Duncan had a really tough time against a 40 years old Malone. Maybe I exaggerated a bit, cause it's kinda hard to compare teams from different eras, but, IMO, 97-98 team would have a pretty good chance to win the title.

I was just thinking the other day, what if we had 1997 Malone instead of Boozer on this years team. Now that would be a sick team.

 that made me laugh for reals

i think the 98 sqaud would make our boys this year look like high schoolers becuase of the defensive players we had back then

Deron vs John would be great to watch

The OP calling Brewer and Horny a draw is absolutely laughable, and comes from someone who obviously never saw that team play, or at the very least was just a kid when he did.

How did greg foster make you think of the finals jazz? Foster is by far my most hated Jazz player ever. Such a tool and the fact he got a title with the lakers pisses me off.

I'm not going act like I know who would win this matchup and I don't really care. The old Jazz was 10 times the defensive team, and though not as packed with raw talent as this year's jazz, they all played Sloan's game to perfection. They knew their roles.

However the league is probably tougher now than it's ever been before, at least the Western Conference. To still finish with 54 wins is amazing. This year's Jazz would create a few matchup problems for the 97-98 Jazz.

When it comes down to it, an argument like this can't be proven either way.

Oh yeah lets not forget about C.J!

The Big Three took the offensive execution to new level. They were very smart defenders. They beat Shaq's Lakers 8-1 in the playoffs.

I guess it would be tough games. John, Jeff, Bryon and Karl would rule but it would depend on 5th man and the bench to secure it.

This team maybe needs more losing to get more convinced what's good and wrong and learn from it.
I should be on Lacob payroll...

Brewer has been great for us and will be a nice player for many years to come, but:

Hornacek > Ronnie "any year" Brewer.

I feel pretty certain about that.
