Last year everyone wanted to trade Memo because he was weak in playoff... this year everyone want to trade Carlos...
I think what we have to do it's to get a defensive center a la Ostertag only for phsysical games and when needed. Let's gonna play those guys and expect not to lose vs weak teams like last year, because we can be a 60 Win team and then with HCA our chances will be better.
We played all playoff without HCA and we did fairly well... altough we could have done better.

A championship team HAS TO win on the road. Praying for Home court advantage throughout the playoffs is not the way to win the championship.
The lakers and rockets showed that our home court advantage is not flawless.
Utah needs to be able to win on the road against great teams , in order to do that they have to be able to win close games . How do you win close games ? With good defense.
Cleveland showed in the past two postseasons that as long as you have good defense you can win close games even when your offense is not that great.
So Utah can afford to lose some offense (Okur) in order to gain some defensive abililty. With the Deron/Boozer duo , Utah will always be good enough offensively.Just take care of the defensive side of the floor.
To be a good defensive team i really think our starting center must be somebody else than Okur. I really don't think a small adjustment ("to get a defensive center a la Ostertag only for phsysical games and when needed") will be enough. Utah needs to do a decisive move that changes this team mindset and makes them understand that in order to go further in the playoffs they need to be a lot better defensively.
Small adjustment will not be enough , this group as it is now will NEVER be a good defensive team because the two interiors suck in that area. We need to trade one of them (preferably okur) for a real impact defender at the 4 or 5 position.
That is ,if we don't want to be the new phoenix suns (great offense , defense not good enough).
We need to change the mentality of this team. We need to put a greater emphasis on defense and toughness.
If Utah can't get Kaman , i would love them to go for a guy like Varejao. Like Boozer he has had some bad playoffs and his value is low right now , especially because the Cavs will try to make some moves this summer.
Dude has size and plays with intensity. He does flop a lot but the refs seems to like him. He is a GREAT help defender. I would love to team him with Boozer inside.

Do you really think Boston is going to win the title if they continue to lose all their remaining road games ?
How much do you wanna bet ?

I used to think Emeka could be the decisive addition to this team , but i've changed my mind : we need a center , i'm gonna make a thread about it.

For playoff basketball Booze game should improve with this years experience. He should learn from the mistakes this time and look to improve. He has the skills to play well in the playoffs.
I'd rather have a defensive center than a offensive center for the playoffs
I couldn't disagree more. Memo has made great strides in his game -- taking the ball off the dribble, playing down in the post, and rebounding. He's also become a much better man-on-man defender. But more than anything: he always looks like he's trying.
Boozer rarely looks like he's trying to me -- speaking of the second half of the season and the playoffs.

Boozer, 2008 1st, cap filler for Emeka (S&T), Gerald Wallace
I like that trade in principal, but I'm a bit worried about Wallace's health. He missed a ton of games last year. If healthy though, this would make the Jazz a REALLY tough team.

I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. I'm not sure how the Bobcats would feel about it, though.

They do it for The Oak probably, but not for Wallace.

Look Okur helps pull out defenders out of the middle with his shooting. And usually the PF from the other team defends him so the center can stay in the middle and defend Boozer. This creates a match up problem for Boozer as he is undersized. If his jump shot is not falling the defender gives him more space and makes it harder for him to get to the hole.... as in this years playoffs. When his jump shot is falling defenders have to get out on him, one fake and he has a layup.
Now if Okur was not an outside threat we would have another defender in the middle that would shut down that option. So having both on the team is a benefit and what works.
The problem is defense. Which I feel both can play defense when they choose to, but I think they both tend to relax too much. Especially when they have a bad offensive game their defense seems to struggle. I feel they dwell on their game and try to figure out what they are doing wrong, which ultimately causes them to lose track of what is going on at the moment on the court. Resulting in them getting burned.
I hate the performance that Boozer showed in this years playoffs, but I feel he will rebound. His shot has been struggling and spacing on the floor has been off so turnovers were higher. Unlike the majority of you I still think Boozer is a strong presence and is worth keeping and playing.
Honestly I would not trade Okur but I would trade Boozer if we could find someone proven to be an inside threat on offense and a better defender. But unless you are the Lakers you don't get gifts given to you (Gasol, Fisher).
