Like everyone has said there's other markets that the NFL would expand to first, but I don't care what anyone assumes about how a team would do here in Mormonville. That stadium would be sold out for all 8 home games during the season and plenty of mormons would be at the game too.

It's never going to happen. As much as I wish it would, it just won't. MLB on the other hand I think would do really really well in SLC. I'm not a huge baseball fan but I would start if the MLB came here. Besides that, NFL games are **** expensive.

There are too many MLB games. MLB is a big market sport. They also get revenue from their OWN tv contracts. The Jazz aren't competing against MSG. A MLB-Bees franchise would be competing with YES.

I agree that baseball would make a killing here. I know there is a lot of interest. I would be at a lot of games myself.

I'm not the biggest fan of baseball but that's because I don't have a favorite that I keep up with like I do the Jazz. Same with the NFL. My favorite team is the Buccs but if they lose I don't really care. But if the Jazz lose a regular season game I'm pissed all day until they win another game.

That is seating capacity. During BYU's 11-2 season in 2006 they were blowing away average attendance records for the mountain west with 60,524. I know Utah does not sell out their stadium for every game either. The only games guaranteed to be a sell out are the Utah vs. BYU games regardless of the venue the game is played in.

Weekly sellouts are not a guarantee for a NFL team--especially if they are not doing well (see the Jazz, Cougars, and Utes attendance during down seasons).

True, but those are NCAA games. If Utah had an NFL team than it would bring fans from ALL of Utah instead of from just one area like college does.

An NFL team in Utah would get fans from Las Vegas also.

Even the Jazz get this. NFL would definitely get this.

BYU gets fans from Vegas and Idaho and Wyoming and California.

Antways it isn't about selling tickets. Tickets will sell in So-Cal, Vegas, San Antonio, Portland, Toronto, Hampton Roads, Birmingham and Oklahoma.

This past season (2007) Utah averaged 42,593 at home games

And BYU averaged 64,497
http://themwc.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/ ... 08/by.html

And, again, these games were often on the same day. So there is no question about it- SLC is a big enough market to support an NFL team. The only question is will the mormons support a team that plays almost exclusively on Sundays? I think they would. Granted, some wouldn;t, but there are plenty enough other people that would.

The Mormons ticket holders aren't. The big money owners may be. What multi-millionair in Utah isn't at least nominally enough Mormon not to want to encourage boredom on Sundays.

Which team is doing so poorly they would move to Utah? There are 32 NFL teams. There isn't room for more. There are room for 6 more NBA teams before 1 more NFL.

Ok, you guys have sold me that the ticket sales may not be too much of a concern. But that leaves the entry cost...maybe they can work something out eventually with an ownership group or something?
