Can Korver? CJ is long and athletic and gives good effort. Of course he needs to develop his defensive game but so do most other players on the Jazz.

I just think it's time to give him a chance, we need to find out what he can do when given consistent minutes in Sloan's rotation.

The media has already had some buzz about Dallas' interest in Miles so I don't think it is a stretch that they may make a run at him. And he may be a more affordable option for Dallas since the other wings you listed are more skilled but also more expensive. I doubt they are all looking for half the mid-level or a veterans minimum at this point in their career.
To me the biggest question is with all the wings stacked up fighting for minutes, who is going to step up and take the minutes? Is the team going to keep all the wings or decide to make a move to help free up space and address some needs? Or are they going to preemptively make a move to address the shakeup that could be here with all the opt outs next year? The Jazz are near luxury tax territory as well so not losing anyone and adding draft picks make the roster even more crowded and flirt with the luxury tax.

It is all too up in the air for me to say the Jazz would match for sure.

they are 6-7 mil below the tax line, they aren't flirting with anything. A 1.1 mil rook contract and lets say 3 mil for CJ wont hurt anything. Hart could also be moved and a minimum contract PG could come in.

As for BG3eb, the site I used listed Stack as a FA, if he isnt ur cap position is even worse. You can only go over the cap to sign players that have bird rights or you use your exceptions for.

My biggest point with the whole CJ thing is you cant make an offer Uth wont match.

and Cuban did eff ur team up...he made that trade, not Avery.

I highly doubt SA goes after CJ, they need to get young as in players not in their mid 30s. Not 21 yr olds.

I wouldn't be suprised to see an owner like Cuban, or someone esle, make an offer that they think the Jazz would match just to put the Jazz closer to the TAX point. The league knows that LHM will not pay a Luxury tax.
It may make it easier to get someone else to take one of our players next year.....ie Memo or Booz. If the Jazz don't match, then they get a great kid with a lot of up side.

The Sheik, we can just agree to disagree, there are ways that Miles can end up in Dallas and still bring in players that have talent and fill out the roster. Are they sure-fire/can't miss ways? No, but there are options that can be created to make it happen.

Cuban took a risk, Avery messed it up. The players are at fault, but Avery screwed with this team almost up to 2 years ago...before the Kidd deal.

I love Cj Miles he is one of my favorite players he is so nice and he has so much potential when he gets minutes he uses them well. Keep Cj and give him minutes over Harpring.

I would love to see him get Harps minutes, but we all know that won't happen with Sloan at the helm.

Locke was mentioning on his radio show yesterday that Harp is the 2nd worst 3 in the league in some sort of rating system he was using. Now I think that is a stretch, but I don't think he is much better than that. The system showed that he was the 2nd worst defensive 3. That I don't doubt. I love Harps heart and hard-nosed mentality, it's probably how I would play the 3, but I think he gets WAY too many minutes per game and WAY too much money.

The same system had Korver being an above average defender, which I thought was interesting. I have always thought his defense was a bit underrated. I wouldn't give him up yet, he hasn't played a full season with us and we have done very well when his shot is dropping. Maybe next year he will find his shot in the playoffs, and that would be huge for the Jazz.

As for CJ, I am very much on the fence with this kid. I know he is very young, but youth isn't what we really need on this team right now. If I would have to give up somebody to keep him, it would have to be Brewer, and I am higher on Brewer right now than I am on CJ. If Brewer can get his jumpshot going, and this is a big ifffff, he will spread the floor much better and be a potentially great 2 in the league. Hopefully he got over the pucker factor this year having to guard Kobe in the playoffs, and will come out of his shell for the playoffs next year.

Just my thoughts...

I thought Harpring played great defense in the playoffs, particularly against McGrady. That is, great for Harp. Obviously, he wasn't locking anyone down. He just moved a lot better than I thought he was able at this point in his career.

I hope to retain CJ, even though I'm not wowed by him like everyone else. Then again, I thought Brewer's rookie accomplishments were vastly overstated, and he came in and delivered huge in his sophomore season, so here's hoping...

Quite a few of us Sonics fans have had our eye on Miles for a while and want our GM to make a run at him this summer. He would be a great fit with Durant moving to small forward and Jeff Green to power forward. He's in the age group that Seattle wants have their core group made up of and Seattle is in a situation where they can allow Miles to learn as he goes knowing that the team is going to make alot of mistakes as they learn.

The Sonics should be around $6-$8mil under the cap this offseason and $15 mil next summer. They could easily put an offer sheet in front of Miles that is of the MLE range or slightly higher if they choose.

They have nothing to lose by having the money tied up during the waiting period while the Jazz decide to match or not.

With a young pointguard such as Mayo or Bayless, and if they can grab a center with their other first round pick(Koufos, Robin Lopez, Jawai, Hibbert, Thompson, Speights) they have a young nucleus of players that fit the slow build method. No one expects the Sonics to win much the next two seasons anyways.

I can't see why the Sonics would pay CJ the MLE or higher, but I can definitely believe they'd be interested in him. I think if they throw out an offer sheet of $3-4 million, he'd be theirs. It's overpaying for what he's produced so far, but a lot of contracts are given based on potential these days (it used to just be draft picks!). We'd just sigh and put Almond on the active roster.

Yeah I think the Sonics should draft another center. Why break tradition?
