"They wanted to know what I knew about Dick Bavetta in terms of holding calls, making sure this team wins, that team wins. I said 'I never heard of that, and I didn't know anything about it,'" Hollins said. "When they called to interview me, I was again caught by surprise they asked so many questions about Bavetta. I didn't know where they were going with that."
This has to be some sweet justification for Jazz fans right? During the Finals coverage they said that investigators asked every referee about Bavetta. Really interesting stuff. Steve Luhm wrote this in his blog:
"Of course I saw Dick Bavetta's performance in Game 6 of the NBA Finals in 1998 -- one that allegedly cost him his designation as a crew chief the following season and led to very public apologies to Jerry Sloan, John Stockton and Karl Malone the first time he worked another one of their games. I did not see Bavetta hugging and laughing with Michael Jordan deep within the Delta Center less than an hour after the Bulls won another championship, although a couple of Jazz employees swear they did. But does that turn Jordan into Hulk Hogan?"
Something has to be done to strengthen the integrity of NBA officiating. I think that it is clear that games have not been dictated by the players but by officiating far too often.

Wow. I try to let Game 6 go, but this brings back some bad memories...
I'm over Jordan's push-off. But I'm not over the insanely bad (and proven factually incorrect) shot clock calls that wiped away Eisley's three and counted Harper's.
Unbelievable.

I totally agree. The push off is a judgment call, but the shot clock violations have irritated me from the beginning. They are black and white and they missed both calls causing a 5 point swing.
