RealGM fan mock draft: Jazz on the clock!

Post#1 » by smoothie » Wed Jun 25, 2008 9:59 pm

using knowledge of recent reports from the team you follow most closely, please form an educated guess as to whom your team will select and why.

this is not about who you want your team to draft, but who you think they want to draft given the situation below.

after posting this thread in every board leading up to yours, i've got this Draft Board:

1. Chicago - Rose
2. Miami - Beasely
3. Minnesota - Mayo
4. Seattle - Bayless
5. Memphis - Love
6. New York - Westbrook
7. LA Clippers - Gordon
8. Milwaukee - B.Lopez
9. Charlotte - Randolph
10. New Jersey - Gallinari
11. Indiana - Augustin
12. Sacramento - Arthur
13. Portland - Alexander
14. Golden State - Rush
15. Phoenix - R.Lopez
16. Philadelphia - Jordan
17. Toronto - Hibbert
18. Washington - Greene
19. Cleveland - Koufos
20. Denver - Chalmers
21. New Jersey - Speights
22. Orlando - Lee
23. Utah - ??

i'm very interested to read your responses! you're on the clock!

don't forget to provide a reason why you think your teams management will draft player x given the situation above. please don't just post a name of a player, those are usually ignored for a more intelligent / in depth reply.

Jason Thompson PF Rider.

He's the Jazz top rated player.

Well considering there are a ton of teams that have already made trades including Toronto, Denver, Indiana and Charlotte, this is the least accurate mock pick ever.

I'm going to say Ajinca. He's an athletic freak, the Jazz have the option of leaving him oversea's, and he has tremendous upside.

Yeah, I like threads like this, but they are hard to do considering the amount of trades that happen around the draft.

Good work though.

with this Mock i think Utah goes with Ibaka or Ajinca just to store over seas for another year... but like everyone said the Indy/Toronto trade really changes the draft.

After trading away Jermaine O'Neil and acquiring TJ Ford, the pacers will now draft Roy Hibbert at #12. It will be interesting to see what the next moves will be for people looking to move up for a big or even for Dj Augustine.

Indiana now has to take a center, because the only one they have is Rasha Nestrovich (spelling?), and Larrry Bird has said that he is looking to bring in a polished player that can help right now.I just have a feeling he is going to take Roy Hibbert.

Ajinca, definitely.

Though anyone who says that Indy is anywhere close to a lock to draft Hibbert is up in the night. They have David Harrison there already, who is a similar player, plus they have Foster, plus HE'S A HORRIBLE FIT FOR WHAT THEY DO. Indiana had the NBA's 2nd fastest pace last year. Pretty sure Hibbert doesn't fit in with what they do.

Not saying they for sure won't, but it would be a mild upset.

There is pretty much no way Harrison is back with the Pacers after last year, and if he is he certainly isn't going to stop anyone from drafting Hibbert. Hibbert would actually be the perfect excuse for Indiana to have nothing to do with Harrison ever again. I kind of doubt that Foster is in their long-term plans either with a rebuild looming, and with Nesterovic coming over from Toronto.

I'm not crazy about the Ajinca pick, but if the Jazz decide that saving money is more important than drafting a contributor, it could certainly happen.

Ajinca. I would be very happy if he fell to us.
