He thinks Kouf will play in europe but still ranks him #24...

Koufos is annoyed by people thinking he'll play for Greece, he's an AMERICAN Greek. His dream is too play in the NBA. pfft, I **** HATE idiots.

I do agree that he is very misinformed. It really makes me wonder if the other "insider information" he has is reliable.

He works out with Fes and wants Fes to get mins because it will make himself look good. By posting this he bay be trying to put a bug in Kouf's ear to get him to go to euro.

Thorpe definitely has an agenda concerning Fesenko, and Koufos is a threat to that agenda. You have to take what he says witha large grain of salt.

Thorpe is a reliable source of info when it comes to his area of expertise, which is evaluating a players game and diagnosing what that player needs to do to become better or determining how much potential for growth the player has in a specific area. He is not a news savant who knows what is happening in every corner of the NBA. This is fairly typical, and it doesn't mean that he is full of **** in everything else he says. The word of the street is that Koufos is getting big offers from Greek teams to play over there, and most people assume he's Greek from the name, so its no wonder that Kosta's official decision is taking awhile to circulate. No biggie.

Update from Thorpe's chat today.

First he dropped this nugget:

Brian (SLC, UT): Who should the Jazz bring off the bench at the Center spot...Fes or Kosta?

David Thorpe: That remains to be seen. Let's see who plays better next week.

And then, for those who have claimed that he has been "down on" Fess, he had this to say:

Mark (SLC Utah): Hi David, Fess has been training with you for more then two weeks now. What specific things have you seen him improve on?

David Thorpe: Unfortunately he's benn hobbled, so we've never had him on the court 2 straight days. The jury is still out on him, though his talent level is that of an all-star

On one hand, its too bad to hear that Fess has been hobbled, and I sure hope that it doesn't interfere with him playing in the RMR. On the other, you don't hear much higher praise than this.

Talent level of an all-star? What kind of crack is this guy on? Potential talent... that would still be pushing it. He is so incredibly raw it is hard to tell.

It's pretty pathetic of him to say something so misinformed, especially considering it's with a guy who plays for a team to which he has such close connections.

But it also makes you realize how much of a junker ESPN is.
