Re: Scouting the Olympics
I noticed some Russian guy was quite adept at playing the passing lane and blocking shots off the weak side.

Yeah, he's filling up the stat sheet quite nicely, I've heard however that he doesn't plan on bringing his game overseas.

I heard that some Acne-faced monster haunts him on the roster position. He is scared of bringing his auto out.

BEIJING – As interest has grown in the NBA over signing 7-foot-2 Iranian Olympian Hamed Ehadadi, the league office has sent a letter to its 30 teams instructing that they are forbidden to even discuss a contract with Ehadadi, Yahoo! Sports has learned.
On another note they are hyping up Rubio. I don't think he is anything special. Most 17 year old players have that kind of energy on the court.
Finally Bogut showed up to play!

Re: Scouting the Olympics
Rubio was great in the game the other night day. He has amazing hands, he will probably come into the league as the best ball hawk from day one.
He is also a very good ball handler, he looked completely comfortable with the ball in his hands against Paul and Williams and wasn't bothered by the full court press. He also showed some nice passes including the one handed alley-oop he tossed right off the dribble.
How many 17 year olds could say that right now? Brandon Jennings who's supposed to be a top 5 pick next season would struggle against Paul and Williams more then Rubio did, and Jennings is a year older then Rubio.
Calderon was terrible yesterday against the US, and he's one of the top 8 PG's in the league right now, and Rubio was clearly better.

Sad Ehadadi is Iranian. By US law, the fact he is an Iranian citizen means he is a terrorist, and he wants to blow up our country and kill millions of our women and children. Thus we can't make business with him, unless you want to die. Special thanks to HolyToledo for the neo-con school of thought.

You can't be serious. After the US couldn't contain him & what he has done in this tournament in limited minutes you cannot see this? Your spanish right? Gotta be
Hopefully Oz get to play Spain & you can watch the two go head to head - no competition.

Patrick Mills is a good player, don't get me wrong. But he is Greg Ostertag to Ricky Rubio's Tim Duncan.
Remember when O-Tag lit up Duncan in the RMR when they were first coming into the league. That is what you are basing this comparison off of.
Rubio is a freak, he's a natural to the position and to the game. To the likes that I haven't seen come into the NBA in quite a while.
If it was worth my time I would bookmark this page and come back to it in 3 or 4 years just so we can all have a good laugh, but this guy is the truth, and he'll be one of the best PG's in the game not long from now.

Re: Scouting the Olympics
Rubio's got a lot of raw talent and instincts, but I think the hype machine is getting a bit absurd.

"Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter."

Re: Scouting the Olympics
I honestly believe Rubio will be on the same level as Paul and Deron, obviously he will be 3 years behind them but he will achieve that same level.
He has everything you look for in a PG, he's a terrific defender both on the ball and in the lanes, his vision is second to none right up there with the top PG's in the game today, and his offense is improving.
He may never be the scorer that these two are, but he's certainly a better defender then both of them, and his ability to create for others is equal.
