I think Deron actually looked better yesterday then he did all last year. I think he learned a ton during the Olympics.

There was a specific play when he came down the floor and was looking to distribute the ball when Ariza came up and fronted him. Deron with out even thinking moved up closer to Ariza, crossed him, broke him and ended up with an easy deuce.

This is going to be Deron's biggest improvement this season. Not new weapons, but knowing in which situation to use his weapons in.

He's always been able to cross anyone in the league, but he would resort to using that, and if he wasn't getting into the paint he was taking long jumpers to beat the other team. Now most of the time it worked, but now that I honestly think he's comfortable enough and has seen every defense so many times he knows when to use each specific weapon in his bag and from that I expect him to dominate. It should also help him conserve energy as he won't try to make something out of nothing, and I see his defense improving.

Price/Knight - both did their thing. I know Brevin is a smaller guy, but he looked TINY out there tonight. He did a good job running the offense though, with the exception of that 'oop to Price, which if it had connected would have been insane.

Biggest D-Will improvement for me was ball control...only one TO. He only forced one pass all night and it was the oop that got deflected.

lol. I ask, nay beg your forgiveness. Personally I attribute it to post traumatic stress disorder. I may never recover from watching Hart dribble out the clock from the top of the key and then jack up a horrific three as time expired . . . game after game after game.

I only got to see the highlights, so take this with a grain of salt. Brewer looks huge. He moved powerfully an finished almost everything inside. CJ Miles looks aggressive but hasn't been able be comfortable enough to drill 3's.

I don't want to get overly excited after one preseason game, but I think Brew and CJ looked really good. Let's see how it goes, but I might start them both and bring KK and AK off the bench.

Sap is nowhere near Booze though offensively. I was hoping to see Paul look more comfortable in the offense.

They would be better suited to have one or the other on the floor at all times and play Lamar at the 4. I think there's going to be some major angst coming out of LALA land this year on the subject.

Still, they are a loaded team. We are too. We saw a little glimpse tonight of what they young guys can do.

They will work fine together. Gasol has a great face up game and Bynum is more of a low post player. They just want to bring Bynum along slowly because he hasn't played in 10 months. If anyone goes to the bench it will be Odom, simply because Gasol is a better PF than Odom. And Ariza fits well at the 3 because of his defense and slashing.

I think Phil Jackson will experiment with Odom as the 6th man, a la Ginobili. He'll still get starter minutes. But bringing him off the bench allows him to play multiple positions to make better use of his versatility. Odom actually played 3 different positions last night, which explains why he looked lost, even though he started.

Good luck in the new season. I think Utah is one of the elite teams in the West.

Boone trying to fill time during a slow play: "The... Dark Knight is looking... especially black tonight..."
