Chris Paul or Deron Williams? Why? I need some insight for an English paper...your thoughts.

You could use this as your premise:

DW = floor general

CP3 = floor kisser

The main topic of your paper should be:

Why Deron is so much better for the Jazz

Why Paul is so much better for the Hornets

Why it doesnt matter who is better than who

Why fans of one have to diss the other whenever the chances arrive

CP is better, not by a lot, but right now he is the better player. Watching him play the past season and a half, he does a little bit more than DW. Arguing that CP wouldn't excel here is shortsighted, you can always mold an offense to fit the characteristics of your best player, CP would have been just as good here with the jazz (maybe better) than he is now with the hornets.

I disagree, GP. When Paul gets into a grind-it-out, half-court game, he suffers to my eyes. He's also more brittle than Deron, which isn't conducive to setting screens in a Jerry Sloan offense. Deron's a much better shooter too, which is key making sure the PG doesn't sag off to help on Boozer in the post.

You may be right that you can change an offense to fit your best player's characteristics. But Sloan wouldn't have.

I would say both players are pretty even. Maybe the nod to CP3 right now because he is currently playing this season and playing well. Let's give Deron a chance to get back on the floor and get established to see what he can do this season. If he's not on the all-star team at the break, we have problems.
