Post#1 » by tylero87 » Fri Nov 21, 2008 7:25 pm

Coming into tonights game against San Antonio where the Jazz have lost 21 straight (including post season); a lot has changed since the Jazz last scored a "W" in SA.

Here were the starting line-ups for each team on 02/28/99:

Jazz:

PG- John Stockton
SG- Jeff Hornacek
SF- Bryon Russell
PF- Karl Malone
C- Greg Ostertag

Spurs:

PG- Avery Johnson
SG- Sean Elliot
SF- Mario Ellie
PF- Tim Duncan
C- David Robinson

Both teams still had the same coaches (Popovich, Sloan); at the time the Jazz were 11-2 and the Spurs were 6-8.

That was also the year San Antonio won their first NBA title over the NY Knicks.

Throughout those 9 years, there is still one fundamental constant:

Tim Duncan!

Was that really necessary? I've had a headache all day and that didn't help.

Yeah he was huge, but I was never into latin music, and much less him. I remember hearing "La Copa de la Vida" (The Cup of Life) during the 1998 world cup, and I was in Argentina during the world cup. They played it like crazy, and I actually didn't mind it for the most part, since nothing really bugs me during the glorious days of world cup, especially on vacation at the age of 14 in my homeland :-D.

Sorry you guys missed the main constant during the past 9 years:

Sloan vs. Pop

Pop is the mirror image of Sloan, with the exception that Pop wins championships.

Pop just shreds the Jazz defense at home. Great ball movement by the Spurs as usual.

for realz. i was at a bball camp in andalucia that summer and hearing "Go, go, gol! Ale ale ale" everywhere i went drove me crazy. after macarena, that song was the most annoying trendy song craze that ever hit europe. add that frenchies won the cup, that summer was sheer annoyment.

Reminds me of when I was in Bariloche, Argentina some 6 or so years ago, and there are always tons of Brazilians there on vacation, and I think the game was Brazil vs Mexico, probably a friendly or qualifier. Anyways, Brazil won, and needless to say I couldn't sleep. I wanted to kick these neighbor's ass (hotel)!
