WTF is wrong with Brewer?

Post#1 » by Pai Gow » Sun Dec 21, 2008 9:17 pm

Honestly, I don't think Booz being out is the reason for us not playing up to our potential, it is the inconsistency of Brewer at the 2 spot right..

I don't understand it, he played great last year and started off the season wonderfully and has totally dropped off which has resulted into benching. Is he hurt? Is Sloan not giving him a chance? Are team injuries affecting his production?

I just don't understand, he should be easily getting 4-6 easy dunks a game with his type of athletic m and cutting ability and we are not seeing it.

I don't even want to get started about his defense..

I think we have forced too many balls to Brew when he is cutting, resulting in TO, which throws wrenches in the gears of our offensive rhythym. Defenses are more aware of him also. I actually think his outside game is more consistent this year.

I agree though... Brew's lack of production is hurting us, and he doesn't seem focused out there defensively.

I think it also has hurt him that Derons been out. A lot of what Ronnie does is based off of Deron. Another thing is I think Ronnie feels like he needs to improve off of last yr and he is trying to do more then he needs to. Ronnie, much like CJ needs to grasp the offense and start understanding their role within it. Both need to hit the boards more. Both need to know where to get their shots and what kind of shots they should be taking.

I also think a lot of what coldblue said is true to that people are more aware of him. We all saw CJs production go down when people got aware of him and might see the same with Millsap.

Deron being out has changed his mindset to more jumpshooting. Then when Deron came back, Deron stopped getting into the lane, which is the times that he always found Brewer for dunks. Also he fed off of the attention that Booze was getting. Defenders were watching Deron and Booze which allowed him to sneak away for easy dunks and layups. Also CJ is a bad influence on his game. So there you have it. I feel like the better Deron is feeling the better everyone else on the team is going to start playing.

Also Brevin Knight has been horrible the last little stretch. It might be time to let Ronnie Price take another crack at playing backup PG minutes.

Maybe we should consider trading him in a package to get an elite guard who can get the calls and just make a run for the title, because we might really get slammed in the offseason

I like Brewer a lot but we should be able to have our starting 2 guard on the floor when we're in need a shot, Brewer is not the man for that.

Brewer's midrange shot hasn't been there and he's taking too many 3's(someone needs to tell him to stop jacking them up). I expect him to start play well soon. He's too good to continue playing like this.

I'm hopeful that he's just in a funk right now. When Brew is getting four or five dunks in a game, I like our chances. We need him to get his head on straight.

Would you guys be interested in a AK/Brewer for Redd type deal? You get a very good SG who can spread the floor and score at will. AK and Redd's contracts are pretty similar and end the same time.
