Pretty damn important right now. With no Booz, we're kinda thin up front so it's nice to plug AK in the PF position (he's better there anyways) and he has, for the most part been playing incredibly for us. His defense in particular has been much better this year than the last couple because of the minutes at that position and quite frankly he IMO is the 6th man of the year so far and its not even close.

I like this deal actually. Forget Gooden after this year and see what Thomas is worth after the season would be a nice back-up for Millsap if we decide to go that route.

No, we already have a better version of him on this team in Memo. Besides I'd rather keep Koufos as well cause I think he has close to the same type of upside.

I love this trade, personally. Let Gooden walk, and see what we have with Thomas, who still has an awful lot of potential.

I guess I'm just not nearly as impressed by Tyrus as you guys are. I see that trade giving a huge boost to the Bulls and a big gamble to the Jazz. If Tyrus plays as he has...we've gotten not very much in exchange for what should be a pretty good trade chip, even as a rental. I think we can, and should look to do better.

Tyrus Thomas = Waste of talent. Horrible Sloan player. He wouldn't last here, nor be good. I'll take Marion though. In a mother **** HEART beat.

We'll agree to disagree about Tyrus. He's got a ton of talent, in my opinion, if he can get his head on straight. If he can't, all we've lost is someone who was probably going to walk/not be re-signed anyway.

What are we going to get for him realistically, in your opinion, given that he's a free agent this summer?

I quite frankly don't see the need to trade him now. He's going to be a free agent and he's hurt...there is no reason to trade him while his value is at its lowest.

I don't foresee this happening, but I would be quite happy waiting until the off-season, then sign-and-trading him to another team for a package that is part talent, part capspace.

(To Miami for Haslem + Cook + future pick? Miami will have capspace to make up the difference in salary...they get an under-contract Boozer for less than his on-court value, we get some real help, and hopefully cut just enough salary to do the other things we want to do. This isn't a perfect trade, but it's an example of the kind of thing I'd like to do. It may also appeal to the Jazz because it helps us make one last push while we DO have all our pieces together.)

I don't see a burning need to trade him either. I'm happy just to let him walk this summer.

Regarding a sign-and-trade, I'm not sure Miami will be itching to give us anything for him when they can just sign him outright. I imagine they'll be smarter than Orlando, who gave up Darko just to give Rashard Lewis more money, when Lewis would have signed regardless.

If we were going to a do a part cap/part talent deal, I still like Gooden/Tyrus a lot better.

Your point is taken, also, that a sign-and-trade lets us use Boozer's services for the remainder of this season (when/if he gets healthy). But personally, I'm not thrilled about his return, simply because it sends Millsap to the bench, which just puts off his development and wastes/readjusts the chemistry the team (Deron specifically) has developed in Boozer's absence. It also precludes Millsap from (God willing we get there) gaining experiencing starting in the playoffs.

That kinda puts a damper on a trade idea I had to help you guys some financially.

I proposed...

Boozer and Harp

for

Marion and a second rounder.

Basically both teams rent the other players to see if they like them. If Miami likes Boozer, they resign him this off season.

Jazz probably just let Marion walk, but get a player who could help them this post season.

How about 1 step further:

Marion/Haslem/Blount
for
Boozer/AK/Fesenko

you get your back-up to Milsap, 2010 cap space in Blount and replace what AK gives you with an expiring.
