Sloan gets an extension..

Post#1 » by Pai Gow » Sun Jan 18, 2009 11:57 pm

Not huge news considering we all probably thought he was gonna come back anyways, but I guess its official now.

And I personally think he has been doing a pretty good job on the season so far this year with all the injuries we have been going through.

Whenever Deron and Boozer haven't' played a game together and you're 3 games away from 2nd place in the West, I'd say the team is doin a pretty good job holdin down the fort.

I'm happy about it....... He is better than every coach in the nba except 3-5 (Popavic, Jackson, Brown is debatable, any more?), so signing him to an extension is a good idea.

seems like this news is pretty big but if you didnt see this coming, then you're not a jazz fan.

i have the feeling that jerry sloan is gonna be coaching the utah jazz longer than most of us are gonna be alive.

Another year of watching the opposing teams go on double digit-to nothing runs before our Coach calls a timeout....... Yeah....... And Jarron Collins just secured himself another paycheck....... And a spot in the rotation ahead of Kosta.......

For those that were paying attention that's exactly what happened in the Dallas game......

I think Sloan is doing this year what every jazz fan would do. I mean, there's no Mcleods, and our worst players are getting less minutes (Collins is playing only because Boozer injury, Harpring is playing less minutes, Price don't play if all backcourt players can play...)
So I'm happy with that.

I am not a big Sloan fan, I think he is well past his prime coaching-wise. Good for him though, it is very rare to have a coaching position for life.

I've resigned myself to the fact that he's going to coach this team until he dies.

I was ready to actually give him props for the way he has handled a nearly impossible situation this year, but then he went and started giving Kosta's minutes back to Collins. I guess Jarron still has those compromising pics, because I cannot figure out how an otherwise competent coach gives minutes to guys like Matty and Jarron.

Jarron rebounds better than Kosta and we've been getting killed on the boards lately. Same goes for Matt, but that's the only somewhat reasonable excuse to play those two over Kosta and Miles respectively.

I dont mind Sloan so much anymore but I will say he has gained respect either way but now he really NEEDS to win a Championship because with Deron Williams there is no excuse not to. I will concede this: CP3 has proven to be a notch better in the regular season so Deron and his team should be dominating the rest of the league (as we did last season, remember we beat all the contenders and lost to the lowlies). Then we can match up w/ CP3 in the WCF and we all know DWill would sweep that series and march to the title lol.

But seriously...w/ Milsap and one more quality piece (Boozer? Trade?) we should be up there w/ the best but we've been injured.
