Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
Why are the Jazz not in Amare trade talks? Jazz have what the Suns want in Expiring contracts (player otp out contracts) and the NYK pick. I know they dont want to help the Jazz make the playoffs, but I think they are cleaning house and would trade with Jazz if Jazz give them best deal. I am sure NYK pick would have to be included for any deal to go through. Boozer or Memo would also have to be incuded along with fillers.
Jazz need to make a bold move like they did years ago in acquiring Hornacek if they want to contenders. Amare's defensive even though not great is a great improvement over Boozers and Memos. Amare may leave in 2 years, but if seems unhappy in utah then Jazz can trade him next year if he is not willing to resign long term. His expiring contract next year will have alot of value.

Re: Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
Jazz can't trade the NYK pick.
Amare's defence is not actually a great improvement over anybody's. He blocks a few more shots because of his height, but he is no better a defender than Boozer is.
If anything, the Suns would want Millsap, and even then with his restricted free agency the Suns would probably prefer a package from another team with a cheaper player.

I'm sure teh Jazz could find a way to move the pick if the right deal came along. I love Amare, would love to see him in a Jazz uni.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
For what its worth (which is pretty much nada), I have heard from a couple ofJazz connected people that Amare's name has come up in Jazz front office discussions. I would be surprised if they were to do it, but I think they probably should. Its true that Amare's man-D is no better than Boozer's. The difference being, Amare is significantly taller/longer than Booz or 'Sap and is not nearly as bothered by lengthy defenders as is Boozer/Millsap.
If we want to build a championship caliber team, then we have to set our sights on the Lakers first. Right now they are a terrible match up for us because Kobe gets every call, and Booz gets shut down by Odom and Gasol's length. There's not much we can do about Kobe-nobody can. But Amare can take away that enormous defensive matchup advantage that the Lakers have in the paint. I know it might be considered blasphemy around these parts, but if the price for Amare was Boozer and Millsap for Amare and a future first rounder, then I'd still make that deal.
Deron, Memo, Amare and AK are almost perfect compliments offensively. The defense isn't going to get much worse than it currently is, and at the very least, Stoudamire is a threat to make a weakside shotblock, something Booz is entirely incapable of doing.

Re: Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
Sounds great and all, but the real reason why Amare is on the block is also the reason why he wouldn't be a good fit here: attitude. The dude is quickly becoming known as a cancer. Hell, even on what will probably go down as the most likeable, fun-to-play-on team of the decade he was able to have issues with management, teammates and other staff.
Now that the team isn't one of the elite few in the league, and things aren't quite going just how he'd like, he has basically began to pout and quit giving max effort. You guys love to KILL Boozer for anything that even remotely resembles not trying his hardest. If you applied the same standard to Amare (and I'm not saying you would, because I've made a lot of accusations on the subject around here, but the one thing I've never accused the guilty parties of is consistency or equity in applying their standards for criticism) that you applied to Carlos Boozer, you would be screaming in the streets for his head the first time we hit a rough stretch. Like, oh, RIGHT NOW, for example.
Not to mention that he is the exact type of player/person that has always had issues with coming to play here. He loves the limelight. Given the fact that he is, in a lot of ways, nothing more than a slightly richer man's Boozer, I think I'll pass on the baggage as well as the cost. No thanks.

Re: Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
Amare is stuck on a team that has no leadership in the front office, and has a terrible identity crisis on the court.
He would fit in wonderfully next to AK, just like he did with Marion, and would run the pick and roll to perfection with Deron.
His defense isn't great, and he isn't much of a rebounder, but his talents would definitely help the Jazz.

Kinda agree with erudite on this one. We'd still suck on defense and our rebounding would be worse.
Plus Amare's knee problems scare me a little. We're gonna have to give up a lot of value to get him here and I'm not sure we'd be a better team + Amare - Boozer, Sap, picks, etc.

Either would be good for me. The good thing about those trades too is their deals would expire during the 2010 offseason, meaning the Jazz could go in a different direction and have a lot of options, or resign the player seeing that the Jazz will have quite a bit of cap space.

Re: Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
Maybe the suns would like to trade for Millsap, but since he gets paid 800k, we'd have to get a ton of players like Collins, Harpring, and some junk to along with Millsap. We'd probably to go ahead and get rid of Korver or Miles. Basically it's impossible to trade Millsap now for fair value. I would say Okur is the obvious choice, and then we decide between Millsap and Boozer over the summer.

If we can keep Boozer and still obtain Amare, that would be superb.

When was the last time a playoff team traded an allstar player to someone in their own conference? Other than Memphis of course.

Someone needs to show me the payroll math on acquiring Stoudemire. If you are to pay Kirilenko, Stoudemire and DWill next season, there is no money left for anyone else to play for the Jazz. Boozer, Millsap and Okur would all be gone for sure, and even more contracts would have to be dropped.

Boozer is good as gone at the end of the season, might as well try to get a all-star pf for a all-star pf! I do love Millsap but honestly the guy is not an elite pf and I think the Jazz will over pay him!

Why do you say that? What indicates that he will sign elsewhere and more importantly where will he sign?

I dont know where he'll sign but he obviously hates Salt Lake, the way a lot of the fans have treated him, the way he initially wronged Cleveland. I just dont see him in a Jazz uniform past this season!

Re: Amare to Jazz? Why Not?
MIami just removed themselves from the running for Boozer. He can go play for the Raptors or Grizzlies or Pistons. I doubt he gets the big bucks he was looking for unless it is for Memphis. Truly his best option is not to opt out and wait for the 2010 spoils.
