Interesting D-Will Stat/Article

Post#1 » by xstockholmsyndromex » Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:28 pm

I dont know how many of you caught this article in the SL Tribune, talking about D-Will's current 5 game streak of 30+ games, which he has done while shooting over 50% in all 5 games.

The streak has put Williams in head-spinning company, considering he has shot better than 50 percent in each of his five 30-point scoring games. The last player to do so was LeBron James in six games from Feb. 27 to March 10, 2007.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last guard to do so before Williams was Michael Jordan in November 1996. The last player who could be remotely considered a point guard to do so before Williams was Pete Maravich, going back 33 years.

Its pretty dang impressive when you think about it. Congrats to D-Will. He is certainly the leader of this team, and will hopefully carry this team to a playoff berth, even in a year when we have been decimated with injuries.

Even better, check out the numbers for the last 30 days, as of today (Feb 17):

Player................PPG.....APG....FG%....FT/FTA...FT%.....3p/g
Deron Williams....26.5......10.1....53.4....7.1/8.7...82.0.....1.5
Chris Paul..........23.8.......9.6.....49.7....7.2/8.6...83.5.....0.8

And yet, if you were to ask anyone on RealGM who has been playing better over the last month, even the most pro-DWillers would say that Paul has been slightly better.

Hopefully we're not jinxing him. Here's to hoping he keeps being aggressive. He's among the best players in the league of getting into the paint for the easy lay in.
