Delta Center and Rio Tinto Stadium

I know that Larry worked extremely hard to get the Delta Center here. He worked wonders and made it happen.

Now, Checketts also had to work his butt off until Huntsman and the gang approved the public funding. The private financing came a lot more easily, even when the financial mogul behind the franchise sold its investment to another company.

Checketts came in with a bit more money... He asked for 35$ million which was approved, and it is meant to be used for parking space that will be also shared with the South Towne Expo center.

Now Larry, he had to work wonders himself to the private funding, and not so much the public funding.

"Yet, the Delta Center wouldn't have happened without public money. In fact, the RDA invested nearly $27 million in the Delta Center back in 1990, which equates to between $38 million to $44 million in today's money (adjusting for inflation)."

I think the Rio Tinto Stadium has more seats than the Delta Center. And unlike the Delta Center, Rio Tinto Stadium was built right from the get-go State of the Art.

So, considering these facts:
We have two awesome facilities.
Both had their funding struggles (One private, the other public)
One is bigger and more high tech than the other.

I wonder then why doesn't Checketts get enough recognition as Larry Miller? It is too a great investment to the state. Will it just take time? Is it just because it is soccer? Was the stadium not enough of a dramatic story?

Are you serious? LHM brought the NBA, Checketts brought the MLS...

LHM has had more influence on SLC than anybody I've ever known in my entire lifespan.

Comparing LHM and Checketts is an absolute insult LHM, he has done and accomplished more with as little as Checketts could ever dream of.

I wouldn't call it an insult, Dave Checketts is actually quite the notable person. If you knew anything about him you wouldn't say that.

Checketts built the first Jazz playoff teams, but Larry is overall more important to Utah by a lot.

It's soccer and nobody cares. That team will never be worth what the Jazz are.

No doubt a great accomplishment, but the Delta center was HARDLY the only part of LHM's legacy.

Just ask yourself this. If the state of Utah was without the Jazz or Real, which would suck more. I don't think it's even close.

Checketts was the one that convinced LHM to buy the second half of the team. LHM didn't really want to and had serious doubts. If Checketts didn't convince LHM to buy the rest, it is possible that the jazz wouldn't even be here still.

Rio Tinto stadium is as important to me as the racetrack out on 21st south.

In other words, I know it's there, but, other than that I could care less.
