Is Ronnie P. a better on-ball defender than Deron, and....

can Deron guard the 2 spot??

Its clear our main defensive problem is dribble penetration. Now who you want to blame for that is a different discussion, wether its Deron not staying in front of his man, or our pathetic bigs who have no concept of help defense.

Obviously we arent going to be adding any shot blockers before the playoffs start, so I think the quick fix may be putting Ronnie in along side Deron to try and curb the penetration from the start.

I know this wont ever happen, Sloan doesnt make changes like that so late in the year, but Deron and Ronnie COULD work great together, at least on paper. On offense, Ronnie is a 2 guard stuck in a point guards body. At least thats part of the reason they have given for not playing him ahead of Knight. So Deron would still be the point, where he is one of the best, and Ronnie could play the 2, which is his more natural position.

On defense, Deron is such a big point guard it would seem possible anyway that he could stay with the bigger guards, while Ronnie could use his quickness to at least slow down the dribble penetration of the points.

I dont know, maybe that wouldnt help at all....maybe Deron cant guard shooting guards, and maybe Ronnie would be too much of a liability on offense....I would think in a move like this CJ would have to go the bench, which with his play putting Ronnie in would seem like sixes.

Either way, since we have no shot blockers now I think we need to get quicker and more athletic on the perimeter. Does anyone else think that would work?

Its clear that what we have right now is not working, why not try something else. Price will most likely be starting the next game anyway cause DWill is hurt.

Did they announce that Deron is out? I havent been watching the post game show.

Thats not good, I'd like Ronnie to guard the point, but not play it on offense. Derons clearly the best offensive player we have. WIthout him, we're completely screwed.

What's D-Will's situation? How long is he supposed to be out?

Strained abdominal usually take forever to heal, so let's hope for the best. I'm not really expecting to see him the last 2 games, so let's hope Ronnie P can play lights out and spark Utah a bit defensively going into the playoffs.

Great thread!

Time to think outside the box.

Trade Deron for CP3.

I heard he's available.

Byron Scott found a report emanating from Dallas about the Mavericks trying to acquire Chris Paul via trade this summer

Are we really going to let Mark Cuban cheat us out of the PG we deserve?

Maybe we could throw in AK and Boozer for Kid.

Shweet.
