Iverson?

Post#1 » by 85star » Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:27 am

I know most people will laugh seeing this but could Iverson work for us?

We've shown that we're a heartless team. Iverson has a bad reputation for not working with coaches and being his own man etc. but he does have heart. What better way for him to show he's willing to do what's needed than sign up to a year of abuse from Sloan.

We've needed a decent SG since Hornacek left. And while Iverson does seem selfish I think it's more due to the fact that he's been let down by the coaches around him. He's been getting licence to do as he pleases since he came in.

I think getting him for the MLE will work out well for both. We get a quality SG with heart. Iverson gets to prove himself in the biggest possible way looking for a good contract once LBJ and Wade resign with their teams.

I understand the odds of this happening are equal to a Jazz sweep of the Lakers but would anyone consider it?

Detroit runs a very similar system and look what he did to their team....we would be worse than we are now :(

Iverson was severely misused by the pistons and he was only taken as a salary dump.

If a team tried to make it work it would be a totally different story. You can't deny Iverson has skills, with a great coach who won't cower to him he could be great.

Iverson could've been GOAT material had some coaches along the way decided to coach rather than let him do everything.

How was he misused? He was put into a real offense, and he disrupted it trying to get his shots. No way would being a chucker and skipping practice go over good with Sloan

If AI's willing to come to Utah, of all places, for somewhere in the vicinity of 1/5 the money he's currently making, come off of the bench and at least make an effort to play within Sloan's system, I'd actually consider it. Since the likelihood of a single one of those things happening is infinitesimally small, this idea really isn't worth discussing any further in my mind.

Sorry but not.
What we need are players like Korver (catch and shoot) or Brewer in SG position.

Obviously no. AI is a perfect example of the worst kind of player for the Jazz system.

The odds are actually equal to a Lakers sweep with all games being blowouts over +20. He can't skip practice here.

Are you serious? Iverson? Not only would Sloan eat him for breakfast the fans would too. He would ruin our already fragile team chemistry. Sorry but no chance

Not only do I not want him on the Jazz, I actually want him and his sour, me-first, no-defense-playing attitude out of the NBA and destitute within six months, a la Latrell Sprewell. That's how much I enjoy this suggestion.
