Difference between 8th and 9th place

Post#1 » by Sloanfeld » Thu Apr 16, 2009 2:16 am

Had the Suns beat us two weeks ago until they blew it, and everything turned out the same way, they would beat us for the 8th spot with a win tonight @ GS. Maybe a loss there would have been better, so we could have had it straight for MIN and GS. Probably not though. As much of a disappointment as this is, guess it could be worse.

hate to be a killjoy, but both the jazz and the suns are gonna do the same amount of damage in the playoffs (nil) but only pho is going to pick a few spots ahead of us.

I don't know about this. Normally I am all for getting up the extra 5 or 6 slots in the draft, but with this year's draft the way it is, and at this point in time, I would rather be where we're at.

For example, in 2006, when the Jazz were making a late run at the playoffs and everyone was hoping against hope that we would snag the last spot, I was rooting for us to come up short. That year, we picked 14th instead of the 18 or 19 spot that the #8 team in the West snagged. The difference? Ronnie Brewer vs. Quincy Doobie. Win to the Jazz.

This year, though, I think we could get just as good a player at 20 as at 14, and I think a fall out of the playoffs would have really done some serious damage to the team. I see the benefit, but in this case, I'd rather be where we're at.

The only thing being worse than the 8th seed is finishing 9th place. No matter how frustrating the season went and how bad the first round games are you can at least say you made the playoffs.

Revenue from at least 2 home games.

playoffs are a different season. I hate the complete lack of faith from jazz fans. At the very worst we beat up on la enough to soften them up for a blazer beating.
