I thought Harpring was retiring? I think Warriors will keep their first, thank you very much.

I'm not sure about Crawford... may be tha Jazz should think about making room for a Ben Gordon kind of player...
Crawford is not selfish. He wants to be a team guy. The real bummer actually is that he's real weak on D. If Sloan can turn him into just above average....he's a steal. I really doubt AK works for GSW and I don't see another hot idea yet. GSW did use Craw a lot at point and he had 5-8 asst typically. A willing and able passer.

when free agency is all said and done, Utah will be very close to the luxury tax. owners won't even consider going over the threshold unless it is for a player that will make Utah sure-fire contender and Maggette is nowhere near a player that would make Utah one of the favorites-no matter how much Sloan allegedly likes him.
AK is a 10-11 ppg guy who USED TO shine on D. We play you guys and I saw how Sloan had to sub Harpring in for AK because AK has fewer skills on offense and wasn't in the mood for D. Believe me...we have few illusions. AK is at best a 6th man who consolidates the Maggette-Crawford contracts into one guy-one roster spot. He sure ain't worth adding a rd 2 and I'd personally want the Jazz to add some incentive. AK's 10 ppg was okay when he wasn't a space case and was a top D guy.
Now...his D is unreliable and Maggette-Crawford each out do him on offense, by a lot.
When you talk $...AK is a 10 ppg guy paid 16-17 mill. Maggs + Crawford score a steady 18-20 at $9-10 mill each. Back when AK DID rebound and block 3 shots a game...he was worth something.
Maggs delivers scoring an extra couple years and add Craw and its 35-40 ppg vs 10-11...so...uh-huh you pay more and GSW is not giving a pick.
GSw also has lux tax concerns and a backup F who's at 17 Million bucks is red flags. Golden State should be real reluctant to do ANY deal for Kirilenko.
MAYBE...we can both gain off a deal. Maybe not.

The Jazz would then end up with Magette and Wilkins but reduce salary for the next 2 years. They should be able to resign Milsap plus still be under luxery tax even if Boozer and Okur stay. They could also work out a sign and trade with Boozer.
won't happen. No advantage for GSW at all.

That to much salary going to Golden state. The trade would be Kirilenko for Crawford and Magette plus Utah and Goldenstate which first round picks. The advanage for Golden state would be about 2 million less next year in contracts. They also save about 25 million in salaries over the contracts. You must decide if traded 7 pick for 21 pick is worth 25 million . Also Magette has a strong risk to be injuried alot during the contract and Golden state must decide if they really want him on the team for 4 years. Kirilenko is also a great passer and could play the role of point forward and would help Ellis as a scoring point guard. I think Kirilenko would be rejuvinated in Golden state without Sloan dogging him all the time.old rem wrote:slambamJazz wrote:I would do the trade of Magette and Crawford and Golden States first for Kirilenko and Harping . Here's a though for you guys. How about Crawford + Maggette + Brandan Wright for AK47 + Harpring + Utah #1.
Wright > Utah #1
Then for a second trade, you could possibly do a Boozer for Hamilton deal with Detroit who might go for it.
That would give you a team of
Williams/Crawford/Price
Hamilton/Crawford/Brewer/Miles
Maggette/Korver/Almond
Milsap/Wright/Fesenko
Okur/Koufos
It would be a complete changeover. This way you'd be able to use Crawford as your backup 1 and 2. You also get Wright who could eventually become a star in this league. With Hamilton, that would be a pretty nice team. If you want, you could let Boozer walk and save some money. If he stays for another year, then you'd be very deep. You get rid of AK once and for all and dump his salary. There may also be a way for Miles to be included so that the Warriors take back his contract although I'm not sure how to do it.

Change the #1 and Harpring out for Fesenko and Miles and I would do it. Miles is not a fourth string player either, he was our starting small forward last year, and if he is not he is our 7th or 8th man.
