Masha's blog: AK Trade

Post#1 » by @ndrew » Wed Jul 8, 2009 10:21 am

It's just a piece of a long post, but an interesting one. She said that they were asked by the Russian newspaper about possible trade to Houston and they were shocked, since nobody from the club or agency contacted them. She said it's probably kinda boring for newspapers to text it and then nothing is happens. She realizes that the possibility of AK trade is high since he is paying a lot, but she is against the trade since is going to be a mess for her - find a new school for kids, moving the business etc.

She also added that AK gained around 5-6 pounds. They are trying hard to put a lot more.

He's already stated he wants to go back to Russia and play in front of his country. Of course that was the summer he had his meltdown and wanted to be bought out ala Fisher.

That is good to hear. I think AK would re-sign for a lot less then people will expect when his contract is up. I think AK and his family like it here and I would for them to stay. Its good to hear that they are trying hard to get some weight put on for AK.

I almost guarantee that the Jazz will re-sign AK when he expires, likely to a deal in the range of 5/48 or so. He is a 10m a year player in the NBA market, and I am almost positive that the Jazz' plan all along has been to let his current gargantuan contract expire and re-sign him at a more fitting price.

AK is worth the MLE. Youre crazy to think he is worth 10. At best he is worth 7-8 mil.

Almost useless to speculate right now since this all depends on:

A) What his next two years are like

B) What the cap is at two years from now.

C) The new CBA. Who knows, maybe there's another NBA work stoppage and AK goes to play in Russia.

I hate to pile on, but what crack is it that people are smoking to think that guys like AK and Millsap command these kinds of salaries?! If Allen Iverson, Ron Artest, Rasheed Wallace, etc etc are biting, scratching and clawing for MLE offers or slightly higher as we speak... on what planet is AK worth 10m?

Europe.

He's worth 7 million a year at best right now.

AI and Sheed probably don't have much left in the tank and Artest as a history with some serious baggage.

not to mention ring chasing. some guys will give up what they are worth to sign for even veterans minimum on a contending team or if they are having a childish fight through the media with the owner.
