How about a trade for Stoudemire?

Post#1 » by Shocker00 » Wed Jul 8, 2009 4:39 am

Utah trades:
C Boozer
A Kirilenko
2nd round draft pick

Utah Receives:
A Stoudemire
J Richardson

Phoenix trades:
A Stoudemire
J Richardson

Phoenix receives:
C Boozer
A Kirilenko
2nd round pick

Utah makes this trade because they get bigger at the pf spot and maybe a little better. The Jazz also creates about 600,000 more cap space. Boozer is expected to leave the Jazz after this coming year.

Phoenix makes this trade because they are going in rebuilding mode and they get an expiring contract in Boozer. Phoenix gets more money to shop with in the 2010 free agency market and also picks up a second round pick.

Both Richardson and Kirilenko has bad contarcts with Kirilenkos being a little worse.

I think this was already brought up before, but I'd still do this in a heartbeat.

Thing is Phoenix isn't that dumb. Wish they were. Kerr is dumb... but not that much.

What about if we got a future pick from the suns? and we of course gave up that new york pick?

I mean what are we going to do with the NY pick anyway if our roster looks like

Deron,Price?,Maynor
Jrich,Korver
Brewer,MIles,Harp
Amare,Millsap
Okur,Koufos,Fesenko,Suton

I guess we could hope for a 2 guard but isn't that being a little selfish? I for one would take this deal. Maybe it's because im such a huge amare fan. But he helps this team immediately, he provides a shot blocking presence, yes he is a poor man defender, but he can protect the other teams from getting to the paint. Im not a huge jrich fan but his contract is better then andrei's slightly and he gives us another scorer who can drop 20 or 30 any given night. I think utah should look at the big picture and see that superstar PF's are kinda available, we could nab one instead of hoping millsap pans out more then he has.

I think Phoenix would do this. They are in rebuilding mode and by getting Boozer they will have 46 million in expiring contracts for next years free agency and a team option on another 6 million. Phoenix isnt going to do anything this year anyway. I think they might as well get the extra 12.6 million in cap space for next yr. The salary would only be 600,000 more this year and about 3 million more the following year by making this trade. These would be thier expiring contracts:

B Wallace 14,000,000
S Nash 13,125,000
C Boozer 12,657,333
A Pavolovic 4,950,000
L Amundson 855,199

Team options on these players:
R Lopez 1,867.320
J Dudley 2,151,068
A Tucker 1,934,720

They could do all types of things with these expiring contracts and all the available cap room.

Amare is also an expiring.

I don't know why Phoenix doesn't consider this trade.

Amare has a player option for next year. He has stated he likes playing in Phoenix and that he doesnt want to be traded. He will probably opt in and stay at Phoenix at the end of the year. From what I hear is that Phoenix would like to trade him now before he exercises his option at the end of next season. By getting Boozer they can be a competitive team this coming year with Nash, Boozer and Kirilenko, but yet create the cap space they would like for next year. They can become big players in next years free agency. The one thing about trading for Stoudemire though is that he might decide to opt out next year if the Jazz trade for him and he doesnt want to play here. I dont think that is a big deal though because I think we lose Boozer next year anyway when he becomes a free agent.

If there is any remote chance that this trade can happen the Jazz better pull the trigger. I salivate at the thought of having Amare in our pick and roll and having shooting guard that can actually shoot.

The only way the Suns do it is if the 2nd round pick has a protection on it so the pick can only come to PHX if it is a really low 2nd round pick. Kerr always likes to ensure our picks are never valuable to the Suns.
