This is the trade for Boozer that I have been hoping for for a long time. He adds the defense that the Jazz needed to be a contender. I would have prefered that Boozer didn't turn into such a loozer, because I think he and Okafor fit better than Okur and Okafor. I would have then sent Okur somewhere for a better SG or SF. In any event it is sad that KOC couldn't get this done.

It doesn't say if there are picks involved, but it looks like it's a straight up swap.
Seriously, Charlotte? They must think paying Emeka the big bucks was a mistake. Can't see why on earth they would do a trade like this.

Looks like Chatlotte fans overwhlmingly prefer Boozer over Chandler:

I would love to get Okafor as much as the next guy, but isn't he owed $50 mil over the next 4-5 years or so? We'd be paying the luxury tax until the end of time and the franchise would likely have to leave. I also wonder why Charlotte gave up on Emeka, but Utah isn't a team that could afford him. If we hadn't have re-signed Okur or Millsap, sure. But our $ are tied up in those two...

At first it was going to involve other pieces (who knows...maybe it does since the deal isn't done yet) then it is a straight swap. If it is a straight swap, Charlotte has become the new Memphis. :x

Who the hell cares how much Okafor is making? KOC has been preaching all summer about how he isn't going to worry about money, but rather making good basketball moves. This would be a good basketball move.

C'mon, KOC, put your money where your mouth is. But of course, on this deal, just like all the others, KOC will sit there with his hands in his back pockets and do nothing while other teams get better. What pussy.

This is the silliest thing that I have seen in a while.

It sounds like the Jazz front office is willing to pay the luxury tax this year, but that's only because Portland handcuffed us into doing it. If I understand correctly, the Jazz were considering or had to take out a loan just to afford Millsap's $10 mil signing bonus.

If we could get Okafor for one or two years (until AK expires) or even trade AK for Okafor and expirings, that's one thing.

If the Jazz has to pay the luxury tax by more than $5 million (in one of the NBA's 5 smallest markets) for more than a couple of years, the following things will inevitably happen:

1. Ticket prices will increase, likely sharply. The season tickets I enjoy for $700 a year will be $1500 a year or more.

2. Given the size of the Utah market, it's likely that game attendance would likely decrease by 20-25%. This fanbase couldn't keep up with serious ticket price increases..

3. Come 2014 or 2015, we're looking at an empty arena on 3rd West and South Temple while the erstwhile Jazz players are now playing in Vegas, Kansas City or elsewhere.

The truth is, no one wants to take on AK's contract or offer less than 30 cents on the dollar for Boozer. KOC would have made a move had there been an offer worth making. I'm perfectly OK with not trading for any long contracts. We already are maxed out on those..

Chandler has more trade value to my Bobcats for 2 reasons.....

1) he gives us a legit big Center to replace the center we are trading away w/ a similar skill set but more athletic with a better "motor"

2) if this works out we have him locked up for 2 years then we can re-sign him at what probably will be a lower salary, if it doesnt we're free of his salary or we have a big expiring contract going into the following summer, while on the other hand Boozer is a PF which leaves us a hole at C and moves Diaw to the bench when he was a very important piece to our team last year....We would also either lose Boozer this summer or have to lock him up into a long term contract at probably a higher price than the contract we just got rid of in Okafor....

So yeah Boozer is definetly a better "player" than Chandler but to the Bobcats Chandler is a better asset becuz he keeps our team at the same level we are now, with moderate hopes of making the playoffs, while also shedding future salary both if works and if it doesnt.....Boozer doesnt in the end he would probably cost us more....

Also maybe the Jazz front office wasnt interested in acquiring Okafor's contract especially if they are trying to trade Boozer...Boozer is a better player than Okafor, if you dont want to pay him why Okafor around the same amount?? Okafor is overpaid & overrated but just like you guys probably had to overpay to keep Milsap this year we had to overpay to keep Okafor last year...couldnt let him leave for nothing....now this year we corrected that mistake & get something of value in return

Its pretty simple.

Charlotte gets 2 seasons with Chandler instead of one with Boozer (which he will likely bounce). They can likely retain Chandler as well.

Second the bobcats could engage in talks with the Jazz to acquire booz, but it wont be for Okafor. They want to find a big man to pair next to him, not trade him away for a more undersized guy. With Chandler they get a legit C and Larry Brown is content with Diaw at PF.

Lastly Ememka is injury prone and not worth his contract.

If Brown wants a legit front court I would be more then happy to trade Boozer for Gerald Wallace.
