Boozer for Ginobli

Post#1 » by blackham9258 » Wed Nov 18, 2009 6:10 am

I am interested to know what us Jazz fans feel about this trade. I have loved Ginobli for a long time, and felt that he would always be untouchable. Is he still untouchable? Or, has the arrival of R. Jefferson made him more expendable. Also, is he healthy? For example would the Spurs give him another contract after he expires this season? Would we? If so, how much, and for how many years for a guy turning 33 over the summer? I say 3yrs/21-27M.

I think this is a pretty good trade for both sides. We are dieing for a SG with some pop offensively, and I think we would be interested in resigning him for 3 more seasons. Contract wise both guys expire this year.

As far as Boozer is concerned he brings some much needed size and rebounding and the ability to rest TD if his injuries are catching up with him. TD always seems to show up in the playoffs injured after carrying the load all season. I see Boozer as a perfect compliment to TD as he heads into his last 3-5 years. He picks up some offensive and rebounding loads for the Spurs. Jefferson's acquisition also makes Ginobli a little more expendable.

I think that this is a very fair trade, and one that I actually think both teams should make. The Jazz need to move on from Boozer, and this is the best talent that I think the Jazz could get. In fact it is more talent than I think the Jazz ever thought they would get for Boozer. I think from the Spurs perspective they get a player who I think they might also resign. He is 5 years younger than Manu, so they also get younger. The Spurs are suddenly small, old and weak inside. They are in desperate need of rebounding and size, and more importantly someone to help carry the load for TD.

What do you think?

Don't think the Spurs would do it.

Seriously? Spurs are not getting any younger. This seems like the exact kind of deal they would do. They are a forward thinking club. They get 5 years younger, and pick up an all*star PF for an aging SG who they could theoretically resign in the off-season if the Jazz can't keep him. Truth is, they aren't going to win a championship this year without beefing up their inside presence.

no thanks our future looks bright. No reason to help the spurs rebuild so quickly so we have to worry about avoiding them in the playoffs. Dont help old teams get younger, unless its a great deal and a 33 year old manu is not a great deal imo.

I'd do it today, but then again I've been a huge Ginobili fan since his Italian days.

Ginobli while a great player is more injured than Boozer. I would rather not do this trade. I actually think the spurs would seriously consider it, but boozer does alot the same as tim. Now if it were a Okur for Ginobli, I definately think the spurs would do it.

Wow, Okur for Ginobli's expiring? Great trade for the Jazz. Boozer for this year vs. Ginobli for this year is a no-brainer for the Jazz. You have to keep Carlos.

Gino is old and broken down. Not sure what would possess us to do this deal.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Well, I like the Ginobli trade for Boozer much better than the crud that was bandied about during the summer. Heats' Haslem, or Tyrus Thomas etc.
