There is no way we are looking for a PG in this years draft.

I liked Maynor. I thought he was going to be a terrific backup PG for us. He will be missed.

But to quote Chris Rock, "But I understand".

OKC was one of the last teams out there that could help the Jazz with their luxury tax bind. And if they demanded Maynor, Maynor had to go. We may yet see Kufos tossed under the bus to move Korver as well. You never know. Brace yourselves for another shoe to drop as teh Jazz have about 5 mil more to shed.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I understand the trade, but I don't like it.

I mean... Maynor was playing and contributing to this team... He is better than Price. I would have trade Koufos (I like the kid too, but he is not going to play with Sloan).

Let's gonna see if there's another plan, but right now, our team is weaker than monday.

Maynor is gonna come back to haunt us. He's gonna be a great PG in this league.

After having a few hours to digest this move, I don't hate it as much as I did yesterday. Its is a lot of money saved, but it was also at the expense of talent. To me this says the Jazz don't really like what they are seeing on the court and realize that this team is not an upper echelon contender. Its not worth it to pay Isaiah Thomas @ the Knicks level salary and tax burdens for a middling team. It will be interesting to see if there are future moves coming as well.

I don't think we should expect a Boozer or Korver trade now, as it seems the Jazz are most interested in the cash savings that expiring contracts can get them in the offseason. Once Boozer and Korver fall off the books and are under the tax bill, it will be time to rebuild the Jazz. The Knicks pick is looking more and more like a mid first-rounder, so there goes our hopes of getting a real stud in the draft. At least the Jazz will have a sizeable trade exception they can use in the offseason which gives them flexibility.

All-in-all, I think the Jazz are in a very dangerous place. The team does have to deal with the same rocky finances that have burdened this country recently. In the past though, we had Larry Miller, who was emotionally connected to the team and really cared about winning. Now, it looks like Greg only cares about the bottom line. If this is how he is going to run the team for the foreseeable future, there is a better than 50/50 chance we become the next "LA Clippers." Unless the Jazz can find a way to replace the talent they are going to lose over the next 6-8 months, they will be nothing more than an also-ran. Does anyone think Deron will stick around for that?

This is a make or break year for the Jazz.Lots of moves and decisions to make. This saves money however now we have no back up PG.Like others have said i hope im looking at some good moves by Febuary. I dont trust Greg yet!i dont know if he loves the team. Maynor is going to be a starter for the thunder down the road and a good one at that. Best of luck to you Maynor!you are a better leader than Dwill.

I think Maynor and Deron could have coexsisted fine for 15 mpg, and then give Maynor another 10-15 behind Deron, but whatever - trade all our young talent for cap space.....

I guess I'm not as pessimistic about the deal as the rest seem to be. Everyone knew they were going to trade Harpring to get him off the books. I just don't see what people thought we were going to be able to get for him that wouldn't be a bad contract. In the grand scheme of things, giving up Maynor is a small price to pay. Price is coming back from injury and under contract for 2 years so he can cover the backup minutes.

We are crying about a 4 year college player that is shooting 39% from the field, 22% from 3 and 76% from the line. He isn't the second coming of Sam Cassell. He does have a decent ability to get into the lane and dish the ball.

He was a poor finisher because he was a below average athlete. This isn't a big loss expect to everyone's emotions.

He might improve a little but he is what he is.

Right... because Maynor is all the young talent that we have and the missing player for our championship winning team.

Williams' +/- is +93, while Maynor's is +7. Our two best lineups include Williams.

“We’re saving a lot of money,” Deron Williams said. “I know that’s important to a lot of teams right now. It makes sense business-wise. But as far as helping our team, it doesn’t help our team at all.”

At least Deron is blunt.

This move to the Millers was pretty like keeping Maynor for $10M, you have to be stupid to pay $10M for a PG who would of got about 10 mpg the rest of the way. I don't many teams would trade talent for a $6M expiring contract, so Maynor is a small price to say a total of $10M. We could use a veteran PG more than an inconsistent rookie.
