Is it time to trade Boozer?
I'm not starting this thread because of Boozer's horrible off-balance fadeaway in the last minute of the game tonight. Although it does deserve its own thread. I don't know if you guys get the same impression, but it seems to me that, with Deron injured, Boozer tries to be the leader of the team on the court. He has twice already criticized Deron for ball-hogging and IMO there's a clear dispute between the two for whose team the Jazz are.
Boozer is likely gone after this year and Deron is here to stay. With Boozer gone, AK, Sap, Memo and Fes would get more playing time and although none of them is quite as good on offense as Booz, I believe the extra playing time and more available shots would help and motivate them greatly.
I'd love to get rid of Memo's or AK's contract, but it does seem awfully difficult at the moment. Boozer can get us some value and, at the same time, increase Memo's and AK's value, making it easier to trade them. We're clearly not gonna win a championship this year, hell, we might not make the playoffs. In the worst case, we suck and keep our pick, in the best case, guys play well, we have something to look forward to and we raise our trading chips value. What do you guys think?

Seems to me that it has been time to trade Boozer for over a year now. We will be much better without him IMO.

At least one of Boozer, Memo, or AK have to go. My first choice would be Memo, then Boozer, then AK. Something has to happen!

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

The time to trade Boozer was when the FO decided Boozer was not in our future plans. At this point success with him became non repeatable and failure was provided an excuse.

Boozer first... Maybe Booz and Okur. Maybe people would buy tickets if we made a big trade and took a risk. It would be good to see some new blood in the bigger roles on the team (signing someone from the D league doesn't count as a risk).

I am surprised the Jazz haven't shown all that much confidence in Millsap this year. I honestly think if we move Boozer, Millsap steps in and plays similarly to the way he did in the middle of the year last year when Carlos was hurt.

Millsap's looked like garbage for the most part....I completely understand why they dont have confidence in him.

B) Please give an example of what you'd consider a "big trade," that is also a risk. Not saying it's impossible, but my feeling is that most Jazz fans have unrealistic expectations. I have one player in mind, but it would be a HUGE risk, and could end up screwing the team for years. In other words, fans like to cry about AK's contract, but most of those same fans expect us to take a gamble on the same kind of contract.
And to answer the OP, yes, it's definitely time to trade Boozer, but it has little to do with Utah's recent struggles. Boozer paved his way out of this town when he went on his "get me out of Utah" radio tour. Utah was smart by keeping him long enough to remind the rest of the league that Booze is one of the best big men in the NBA. That's right, I hate him too, but he's right up there in this league, when healthy. If his defense wasn't so questionable, Jazz fans would be **** themselves over the thought of losing him.
I have to admit that I'm starting to get a little worried that Utah won't be able to get decent value for Booze, but I still expect him to be gone before the deadline. Personally, I would prefer Utah lives for the future, at this point. Missing the playoffs this year wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit. Sounds lame, but this team isn't going anywhere. Better off trying to set ourselves up for the next few years.

How about this deal:
Utah Sends Carlos Boozer to Chicago
Utah Receives Tyrus Thomas from Chicago
Utah Receives Andre Miller from Portland
Chicago sends Brad Miller to Portland
Chicago sends Tyrus Thomas to Utah
Chicago receives Carlos Boozer from Utah
Chicago receives Travis Outlaw from Portland
Portland sends Andre Miller to Utah
Portland sends Travis Outlaw to Chicago
Portland receives Brad Miller from Chicago
Portland needs a temporary fill in at center (brad is expiring) and Andre Miller is not working in Portland. The jazz are short a point guard (or will be at the end of the 10 day contract) and Miller likes Salt Lake City plus Tyrus Thomas provides some interior defense. Chicago gets a chance to test drive Boozer... interested in your thoughts?

Yeah cause Miller has shown he's fond of bench roles, plus Thomas has a tremoundous basketball IQ. I rather keep the perennial All-Star than two guys who would come off the bench, and would likely get in the dog house with Sloan.

I don't care if Boozer stays or goes but if you are going to move him, you either have to replace his offensive output or the team will go into a tailspin. Like him or not, he is still one of the more consistent offensive players on the team.

It's not time to trade Boozer for just anything. He's both productive and expiring.

The crazy thing to me about this is that Utah is actually a decent attendance draw on the road. I thought they were one of the worst in the league, but they are ranked 9th in terms of % of fans drawn, which is best in the division. Teams like Orlando and Dallas are worse. That is a big surprise. I also wonder why so many people want to watch Detroit and Chicago play. Cheap tickets maybe?

I'd push hard for Noah but I think that he's now off-limits. I wonder if he was available this past summer?
That Andre Miller -> Utah trade makes absolutely no sense. You'd have to think he could play well alongside Deron, and to think that you'd have to be crazy.

I was thinking there had to be some sort of divisional reason but when you look at the list the biggest star teams are at the top for sure, regardless of division. It could have to do with Utah's home schedule nights affecting the days available to hold road games? I dunno.

Actually, the guy I would like traded is Okur. He's not playing well and we just signed him to a 3yr contract. As someone else posted, why trade, boozer, the guy who's producing and expiring. Also on espn, they were discussing how for boozer and bosh, the teams will likely get better offers this offseason with sign and trade deals.

I think this is true for a couple of reasons:
1) Especially with Boozer, no one will trust that he will sign an extension as part of a midseason trade, even if there's a handshake agreement to do so. If you wait and do a sign-and-trade you know for sure he's sticking with your team.
2) A team that is targeting one of the big names in FA this summer could use all their cap space on FAs and then pull off a sign-and-trade with Utah to add Boozer, taking advantage of Utah's Bird rights to go over the cap.
