Jazz/Wizards/Bobcats Trade

Post#1 » by moonsover » Sat Jan 9, 2010 9:20 am

Boozer and Diop to the Wizards
Korver and Jamison to the Bobcats
Haywood and Gerald Wallace to the Jazz

Hollinger's analysis says it will result in -5 wins for the Wizards, -1 win for the Bobcats, and +3 wins for the Jazz. We also get rid of 17.4M and only take back 15.5M.

As for getting Haywood and Wallace, it does ditch our own expiring contracts, but it gives us a legit, shot-blocking center (currently second in the league in blocked shots per game), and a hustling forward (currently 41st in the league in blocked shots (behind Millsap, but ahead of everyone else on the Jazz), 3rd in the league in rebounds, and 30th in the league in points per game (Boozer is 19th)).

More moves we could make, in conjunction with this trade, to get under the salary cap:

If we included sending Koufos to the 'Cats, which also works, we'd be sending off about 18.2M. So we'd shave off 2.7M and be only be 2.16M over the cap. We could then send Ronnie Brewer (whom I like) to a team with a trade exception. We could even pay that team the remainder of this year's salary. Taking his 2.7M off the books gets us under the cap (saving us from paying the lux tax penalty), and, (as I read from Hollinger today) would qualify us for the 4M or so in league distributions.

Eventually, though, if we send out 4 guys and only get 2 in return, we'd have to pick up two more guys, Sundiata Gaines style. And after trading RB, it looks like we may only 500K to work with. I don't know if that'd be enough, even by going with as many 10 day contracts as possible and then paying the league minimum for the remaining portion of the year. I'd be in favor of trading CJ at 3.7M instead of Brewer, but I'm not convinced other teams would be as interested in either his contract or his ability.

I like it for all teams. You should post this on the trades forum.

Ah hells no. Why would we trade our 2nd best player who is already an expiring contract for that?

No chance we trade Crash for anything under Lebron. If for some reason this trade could be worked out with Diaw instead of Crash there would be some consideration but then Koufos would have to be involved as insurance for Jamison's injury buggs

And I thought the Jazz were bad at overvaluing their players, sheesh! What is it with teams not wanting to trade a player when their value has peaked?

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Yeah we will have 4 players with the ability to block shots. And Gerald has good midrange shoot.
This trade will make the Jazz much stronger first of all on the defensive end.

Could you imagine..

Haywood/Okur/Fesenko/Koufos
Millsap/Kirilenko
Wallace/Brewer
Miles/Mathews
Williams/Price/Gaines

Okur would probably rendered near worthless, and SG would be our weakest position, so we could trade for a starting SG?
