Re: CJ Miles' value to the Jazz organization?
He started the season very well, but with Korver his minutes have gone down, and he hasn't been able to take minutes away from Mathews who's been a stud all year, and Brewer will inconsistent, has been better than Miles most of the time. He could probably excel with a bigger role, and maybe he needs a little more seasoning, he's still 23, and the first few years he wasn't given as big an opportunity, but I feel he's gotten a little better each year. He doesn't have a real big contract, so I don't mind him staying around, he could get better, but if there is a deal worth making, I'll let him go.

CJ is not the worst guyy on the team he is probably close but thats not really saying a whole lot this team is deep. Also I think the Jazz Brass value CJ much more then most fans here. What does Sloan always say? It's not who starts the game it's who finishes it, last I checked CJ has been playing 4th quarters lately. IF he could get consistent playing time he would most likely be having a better year plus he was hurt early in the year. What player can just jump off the bench for a quarter and light it up on most nights? I would say none. Also CJ is on a very reasonable contract.
None?! Manu, Antawn Jamison, Mike Miller, Ben Gordon, Jason Terry, Leandro Barbosa, Jamal Crawford. All players that could jump off the bench for a quarter and light it up on ANY night. This is such a common thing in the league that the Sixth Man Award has been around since '82.
.
I'm not talking about guys who get 35 minutes playing time. There is no guy in the league who can just come off the bench for maybe at most 10 minutes and not knowing when that 10 will come. Then come in and consistently produce.

Thats because any player who can come in for 10 minutes and contribute is gonna see more minutes. It wouldn't make any sense to have a player who can come off the bench and contribute consistently, and then only play him 10 minutes.
10 minutes isn't the reason C.J. isn't contributing, C.J. not contributing is the reason for the 10 minutes.

What about the players that are famous for coming in at the end of games and knocking down big shots? Horry, Kukoc, etc.
Even Korver has been playing small minutes and shooting lights out now that he is healthy.
Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
Korver 09-10 UTA 18 0 12.2 0.574 0.625 0.667 0.0 1.1 1.1 1.3 0.2 0.2 0.6 1.2 5.8 (only 12.2 minutes)
Miles 09-10 UTA 27 10 20.0 0.405 0.306 0.652 0.4 1.6 2.0 1.2 0.7 0.2 1.0 2.8 8.2
Price 09-10 UTA 27 3 13.9 0.420 0.320 0.654 0.4 1.0 1.5 2.3 0.7 0.3 1.2 1.9 4.4
Even Price is shooting better then Miles and he is only get 13.9 minutes per game. And Price has more blocks per game and same steals per game with 69% of the time on the court. With Miles longer reach this shouldn't happen.
Miles is not getting it done offensively or defensively. I would play Brewer, Korver, Matthews, even Price at SG before Miles. If he can get better great, but right now he does not even deserve 10 minutes on the court... too bad we can't send him to the D League to get playing time and build confidence.
