So your response to what his coach said about him having good stats is that Morris Almond has good stats too. And you brought up Morris Almond because he couldn't make it on the Jazz and is also successful in the D-League.

Therefore you are either saying that this kid doesn't have a chance because he put up good stats in the D-League just like a player who couldn't cut it on the Jazz, or that he will be a decent NBA player like Kelenna Azubuike. However you commented on both Azubuike and Almond like they have similar success stories when they are actually quite the opposites.

This signing was about 3 things:

1. We had to sign someone by league rules and a D-League callup would cost the least in luxury tax

2. When AK's back acts up and he can't play we are really thin at the wings

3. We needed a strong bull of a wing defender sometimes and Jeffers can play defense.

I have nothing against this kid, but why do we need another undersized guard? Does O'Conner realize how short we are against the Lakers and Nuggetts.

Is their really no better alternative in the DLeague to Kosta Dufas and one game a year Fes?

How bad are those two players when they cant even steal minutes from Okur.

Why not even take a chance on your biggest need with a center.

If we are not gonna even tryout a big man, we should of just randomly signed season ticket holders children to 10 day contracts. At least that would help in ticket sales.

The thing that gives me the most optimism about this kid is this from the SLTrib.

If he does ever see the floor, I would love to see some nastiness or the ability to get in the middle of things and cause havoc. The Jazz currently don't have any real tough guys since Harpring went down and I'd love to see us gain an attitude.

Both the Lakers and Denver have players who will mix it up and that's what I think separates them from us.

The Jazz were looking for a harpring replacement likley more in practice then the game while saving money. He will never see the court and probably just get 1-2 ten day contracts and be gone. The Jazz really care about saving money with winning being secondary. I would have preferred a veteran like Finley if we were going to get a wing player.

The Trib description makes me think of Ron Artest. That's a style of play the Jazz are lacking.

Lacking? You say that like he will ever play. He will never see the court and will be gone within the next 20 days. Mikki Moore gets healthy then be signed and the Jazz save money in the mean time....Every dollar counts to the ownership.

So far every D-League call up for the Jazz, except one in 2000 when the D-League was 1/10 of what it is now, has stuck in the league.

This is the kind of 13th man I was hoping they'd take a chance on. Michael Finley will not help this team any more than a player out of the D-League, like Miki Moore was, will.

Completely agree. More than any other thing the Jazz need nastiness; IMHO that's the big thing against Nuggets/Lakers.

SLOAN: Othyus go out there!
JEFFERS: Coach, just name the a$$ you want scrapped.

Music in my ears.

I would be really surprised if Jeffers cracks the lineup during his 10-day stint unless its during garbage time in a blow up. It seems more than anything, this was a move made by the FO to give them more time to find a veteran big.

i have high hopes for this dude...and speaking of nastiness, i like evan turner a lot but i honestly would almost prefer demarcus cousins to bring some much needed attitude and to match the physical play the lakers/nuggets bring. if sloan whips his ass in to shape to where he brings the attitude on the court but acts professional off the court, i think he could do big things for us...sorry for bringing up draft bs i know weve had our threads for that and this is comlpetely off topic but i was just thinkin about it yesterday. anyways.... lets get it othyus!!

I think I watched Turner and Cousins just a couple times thru the Internet and I have to say that Cousins clerly appears to be a tough guy.

I agree with everybody regarding toughness and replacing some of what we had with Harpring. When I saw us against the Lakers, we had a tough match up with Artest; none of our SF's could match up with him and AK couldn't guard him because he had him guarding Odom/Gasol. So I hope this guy can at least bring that to the table.

I don't know much about this guy, but maybe his life story can bring the Jazz players some inspiration and motivate them to play hard every game and not take for granted the opportunity they have to play in the NBA.
