you could argue it, but you'd have zero success. Try matching up Deron's contributions with those of Darren Collison since he took over as the New Orleans starter 14 games back. His numbers for those are almost identical to Williams ... just a little better. You want to make the argument that his contributions are right up there with the very best? Didn't think so.

Are you freaking serious with that? NOH in the last 14 games are 5-9, Jazz are 10-4. END OF DEBATE RIGHT THERE!

I'm not worried about this loss or Deron's play. You can't fault the guy for not doing as well as he was when he has a wrist injury. When he's back to 100% it should solve a lot of our problems.

What was wrong with his wrist against Houston?

Guys who have never played sports with nagging injuries will never understand the effect they can have. Some nights they are worse than the next. Deron is already a streaky shooter, the injury is only going to make that worse.

If it makes anyone feel any better, Clippers are 18-12 at home and have wins against the Lakers and Celtics there. Just sayin.

The effect of a nagging injury varies from game to game.... Think of it like fishing, one day things at the lake are good and you catch a lot of fish, but just by moving locations things can change very quickly. A nagging injury is like that, you'll feel good for a while, but then after repetitive motions or contact the injury gets worse (in this case his wrist tightens up).

Well isnt he smart enough to know when its bothering him and when it isnt? How about quit chucking when youre shooting 3 for 75?? Or how about drawing and dishing on that last play if youre worried you wont make your free throws because your wrist is bothering you? By the way, he made his free throw just before that, so his wrist must be VERY sporadic right? Thats just a perfectly convenient excuse for choking.

Yeah, you've never played a sport with a nagging injury, you just confirmed it. As if he gets to pick and choose when it bothers him and doesn't...

Tell me where I said he gets to pick and choose when its bothering him and when it isnt? Obviously youre the one who has never played with any type of injury(or apparently learned to read), since you seem to think you cannot detect when an injury is bothering you, which is what I ACTUALLY said.

Should he shoot it less when his injury is bothering him, of course. I'm not sure it's as easy as just saying, "I'm not going to shoot the ball." He is still getting a lot of assists, but it's built into him to shoot the ball. Look at a guy like Kobe. His finger has bothered him, his stats prove it much like Deron, yet he keeps shooting it. I'm not defending it, but it's built into guys like that. Just because you're injured, it doesn't mean that it's easy to turn off that instinct to shoot the ball when you are open, and Deron probably is hoping he can play through it.

Sure I would like Deron to pass it more, but when his teammates are shooting just as bad as he is, it's not going to help much.

I also think one of his problems is that he feeds off of his opponents, and when a guy like Baron Davis gets him riled up, he wants to shove it back down his throat. That is his killer instinct, and he needs to learn to control that to his advantage as well. It's normally a good thing, but with the injury, it doesn't help him.

First of all Deron is not Kobe....and second, the instance you described with Baron is nothing more than Deron letting himself get dragged into his own personal little pissing match(like you do here when you have no leg to stand on in defending Deron).

Derons done that a few times this year(against Flynn and Minny, against Lawson and Denver, and against Evans and Sacramento to name a few) where his ego is hurt by a rookie schooling him, so instead of doing his job and running the team he tries to match them point for point, often failing and hurting the team. Thats exactly my problem (and by what I see, a few other peoples problem) with him. He has the talent, but sometimes he doesnt have the brains/moxy that a top 3 pick, a max player, and a franchise player ought to have.
