They have been talking about this in Boise as well. The rumor that they have is that BYU will go into the Big Ten, and Utah and BSU will go into the Pac 10.

BYU has no shot at the Big-10; Big-12 as a replacement possibly, though TCU may edge them out there. BSU is a little wishful thinking too. BSU would be perfect in the Big-12 if they were closer.

i heard the deal was the big10 and money. they could effectually ruin the big east by taking rutgers, notre dame, pitt, and either missouri or texas from the big 12. the big 10 would become a 16 team league and rake in more viewers across the country for their cable station. if the big 10 expands, pac10 would feel the pressure being the smallest bs er bcs conference left. not a lot of monies in small conferences with only a few media markets. if they take colorado, then that leaves big 12 teams short. if colorado leaves, they get a different recruiting ground.

personally, i think if any team jumps from the mwc to a bcs conference turns into a hypocrite. all this fuss about the bcs being a monopoly and not sharing and being unfair and shoving away the little guy, but jumping on board as soon as your team gets a chance is wrong.

I don't see why BYU would have no shot going into the BIG10. Notre Dame already said that they won't. It sounds like Pitt is a lock.

BSU to the PAC-10 makes little sense to me. It is all about incoming money and tv deals. Boise is the 112th tv marekt in the country. It would make more sense to duplicate the Utah market with Utah and BYU than take BSU. Utah and CO would have to be their top choices. I would imagine that TCU would be the pick to replace CO. Yes, I do think it would make Utah seem like a hypocrite.

Bat, how can you say sorry to BYU on proven track record? How many bowl games in a row have then been to? How many 10 win season have they had in a row? They have a good track record.

Like Delaney said, you don't want a team that's good not great going into one of these conferences. They consistently underachieve in bowl games, they lose games like they did to FSU this season at home, a game they had no business losing.

A team like the Utes has a much better reputation going in with their long bowl winning streak, and 2 BCS wins.

As an athletic program BYU has as much upside as Utah, probably more... But that's not the issue. The issue is the institutional differences between BYU and the PAC-10 schools. It's not just religion and politics; but University mission as well. BYU is less focused on research and post-grad development. If Air Force, Fresno St. or TCU were in the same position they would represent these weaknesses as well. The Big-12 suits BYU better. If Texas and Colorado leave the Big-12 then adding BYU and Arkansas would round out the Big-12.

If the Big-12 doesn't lose a team, I then could see Boise coming to the MWC, maybe with Montana bumping up a level like Boise did before.
