I think Aldrich will put up stats similar to a Tyson Chandler rather than an Okafor. But still, I rather have him over a guy like Whiteside, who seems more like a hopeful potential guy (Sean Williams ring a bell?) rather than a for sure thing.

Tyson Chandler isn't much statistically, and I really see Aldrich having a better career than him. In Chandler's best season he was putting up 12/12 with just over a block per game.

Aldrich is a much better shot blocker than that, but I don't see him ever getting above 11 boards a game really.

Okafor's best season was 14/11 with 2.6 blocks, which I could see Aldrich averaging close to that in his prime.

Chandler alters shots even though he doesn't block them. The guy was good on the pick n' roll w/ Paul where he would go up and dunk it every time he got the ball. I don't see Aldrich being a legitimate post threat like an Okafor tries to be. Aldrich is in no way, shape or form, close to Okafor physique wise as Okafor is a power guy more than Aldrich. Chandler is an efficient finisher that does the dirty work and plays a defensive role instead of trying to be more, which Aldrich should be. But like you said, Aldrich should put up a few more blocks than Tyson Chandler does.

I am actually pretty impressed with Aldrich's footwork in the low post. When he gets the ball with his back to the basket he has nice footwork that allow him to use a drop step, a shot fake, or a turning hook pretty effectively. He even has some nice up and under moves that will be valuable at his size.

He has a quick upper body as well that allow him to deceive his defender on which way he is going to turn, and he can turn over both shoulders and score. His jumper isn't as bad as it looks either. It's ugly, but it goes in.

I watched Aldrich perform the athletic drills at the combine on NBA-TV and he looked very impressive. Quick feet, good overall speed and had awesome balance for a big man. I'm pretty confident in saying that Aldrich is the most under-rated athlete in the draft right now. His low body fat percentage is no fluke, he is a great athlete who has gotten himself in even better shape.

I think everyone here is buying into the stereotypes of big white guys (epsecially from Kansas). Just because he looks like a Greg Ostertag or Prizzy does not mean he is going to be the same kind of player. The same thing goes for Whiteside, just cause he looks like a Hakeem or Mutumbo everyone is riding high on him but look what happened with Thabeet and all his hype for looking like the next Mutumbo.

I believe Aldrich is going to surprise a lot of people when he gets into the league. He is more than ready physically, has a great skill set and is one of the most mentally prepared guys in the entire draft.

I had convinced myself Aldrich was the guy, then got near suicidal when those measurements came out.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge, Bat.
