How would you feel if you went all the way to the draft and the Jazz picked Gordon Hayward? Things can always be worse.

Jazz fans need to stop complaining. This is a very solid deal for the #9. Thad looked like a potential superstar after his rookie season. After his 2nd year, he didn't look as appealing, but still looked like a potential star. Now....idk. I think he's a solid 30 mpg guy, but the big thing is he's on the last year of his deal; what is his new contract going to look like? If you can get him locked up at around the mid-level, that's a good deal. But if he gets one of those crazy second contracts at close to 10m a season, he will immediately become a net-negative player. The biggest appeal of the draft is finding players for far below market value. The risk that comes with that is in not getting a player that can play, obviously. But if you get a player that is slightly worse than Thad at #9--and I think Babbitt, Henry and Hayward all have a chance to be at least as good as him--then you end up way ahead of the game because you are going to have 4 years of rookie wage instead of just one.

I wouldn't do the deal, because I don't think Thad is a good fit for the team. He's a combo forward who isn't quite a 3 or a 4. I don't think he's a pure 3 now and doubt whether he will ever be. And he isn't a 4, for sure. Still, he's a useful player and I like him a lot. I would rather the upside of the #9, especially if we can maneuver our way into the top 5 or 6.

Still, Thad is a nice young piece and certainly solid enough value for this pick.

If we weren't having all kinds of salary problems, I would say we do it, but we need the rookie to ease our salary issues as much as we need him to contribute. Thad is a good player, and I think there is a bit of overvaluation as well as undervaluation going on here, but I would like to take our chances in the draft.

I would rather trade down and get a late first round pick.

I'd definitely do it, this is a crap draft, Young has more potential than anyone the Jazz could get in that spot.

I think that there is a very small minority saying he is a bad player, but the fit certainly isn't there for the Jazz unless Boozer walks and AK takes some minutes at power forward. If this trade were to happen (which it won't) it would be a sure sign that Boozer isn't coming back (well, that or we traded AK :-? ).

If you guys took Aldrich it would have been for Phily. Lock it down. Good luck with Heyward. We will see who has a better career. Thadeus or Heyward.

Is it too late to do this trade?
