The Knicks took two players who weren't projected to be drafted.

Maybe Hayward will prove us all wrong, but the only sense I can make of it is that the Jazz were so focused on trading down and getting Monroe or having him fall to them, that when this didn't happen, they went brain dead. Either that or they are more focused on the upcoming trading season, that they just didn't care that much about what happened in the draft.

If the Jazz were focused on trades or upcoming free agency then they would've taken a player that significantly affected either one of those. Hayward isn't a trade piece; I don't care (or believe) what KOC says, the Jazz valued Hayward significantly higher than other teams.

As for free agency I think this move puts the Jazz in a weaker position when it comes to re-signing Boozer.

My Hayward scouting report:


Pros:


-Exceptional, exceptional ball handler
-Perfect jump shot form


Cons:


-Jump shot didn't go down in Sophomore season
-Questionable BBIQ
-Needs to improve strength drastically
-Poor defender
-Will he be quick enough to beat SFs off the dribble at the next level?



The first three are fixable over a few years....The last two aren't. Not a fan, though he was the 16th or 17th best player in the draft.

According to Jazz personnel his BBIQ and court vision are exceptionally high. Those are traits that you really can't learn or improve.

I disagree with him having a high BBIQ. His off-ball movement is not good and he takes too many bad shots (Then again, the offense run at Butler forced him to take some bad shots).

I can't say either way, I'm just reporting what I heard. It seems they really like his "head" traits: vision, work ethic, BBIQ.
