Very good driving to the basket thanks to his size, first step and ballhandling skills... Even though he's not very quick... Great creating his own shot... Can shoot from anywhere... Good accuracy from beyond the arc... Above average vision of the court... Not bad on the defensive end... A clutch player.

Sound like Gordon Hayward?

That's the description for Hedo Turkoglu, who in my opinion is the best comparison currently in league. Hayward obviously has the ability to knock down the long ball and if you watched him play you could see that. Hopefully playing in a team as complete as the Jazz gives him more open looks to knock down, and he can continue to do the things he did well at the college level in the NBA.

I have no idea how good Hayward is going to be. Personally, I'd have rather had Henry or Patterson with the pick. That being said, when the Jazz drafted Kirk Snyder they got all sorts of rave reviews for the pick. Including for me. We all saw how that turned out.

Call me crazy but can anyone see Hayward being our version of Robert Horry? Not saying he is going to win us hand fulls of rings or that he plays anything like Horry but the kid is a winner plain and simple.

If he sticks in the leauge, even if he is just a half decent player role/bench player, I can see him being the kind of guy who can be the glue guy for a championship team. Just feels like he knows what it takes to win and that's all he cares about.

On ESPN.com they had a poll for draft day, where the question was:

"Gordon Hayward at #9 for the Jazz was
a. a great pick
b. a good pick
c. a bad pick"

Once you voted, it took you to a map that showed the voting by state. At the time I looked, the only state that had voted it a "bad pick" was...Utah. Everyone else, including "the rest of the world", said it was a good pick. I found that very amusing for some reason :D

I don't know where to post this... I was gone camping over the weekend and draft.

Coming back to the news that we drafted Hayward, I feel almost cheated. I am not happy about the pick. I don't think that it was the right thing to do.

i think he's actually going to be pretty good. i'm not gonna go as far as he could be bird like, bird was a lights out shooter and is one of the top 3 players all time imo, but he has something special about him.

i remember hearing that his shooting percentages drop his soph year, but i think he'll improve that.

as i watched him through the tourney, he kinda reminded me of a bigger nash with a lesser J.

i have no doubt that under d-will's tutelage, he'll be a player.

Here's the espn view on it looks like they agree with me

UTAH JAZZ GRADE: B
Round 1: Gordon Hayward (9)
Round 2: Jeremy Evans (55)
Analysis: GM Kevin O'Connor agonized over whom to take at No. 9. Utah's target had been Greg Monroe, but the Pistons took him at No. 7, leaving the Jazz to decide between a group of players they felt were pretty even.
In the end, Hayward won out. The Jazz needed a wing since Kyle Korver is hitting the free-agent market, and they believed that of all the players left on the board, Hayward has the most upside. His versatility, basketball IQ and defensive ability convinced O'Connor that he can be a star, though to reach his full potential, Hayward will have to rediscover the shooting stroke he had as a college freshman. If he does, he could be special.

GMs rated him as the 9th best player in the draft. Ed Davis was rated eighth and a tier above Hayward though.

his lack of athleticism and inconstant 3pt shoot really hurts him.

if hes unathletic and is an inconsistent shooter and wont be able to defend 3's or some 2;'s well. how much of a steal can he be?
