If you guys think Hayward is going to produce this year, you have another thing coming. The guy is still weak physically, not to mention he's still a rookie. Don't know if you remember who coaches our beloved Utah Jazz, but Jerry Sloan has it out for rookies!

Mathews wasnt even drafted and started for us last season. Sloan has gotten better with his age in this regard. I think he plays the guys who work the hardest in practice. Hopefully Hayward brings it everyday in practice and can help us in games with his limited burn.

Matthews was a 4-year starter in college and a son of a former NBA player, so he was much more experienced than Hayward who only played two years in a very weak conference. That's why Wes got the playing time as a rookie. Matthews already had an NBA-ready body, and Hayward has a lot to go in that category. Don't expect much out of the kid from Butler this year. Any contribution he can make this upcoming season will be a bonus.

Brewer for $1 million is better than Korver at $5 million or whatever he is wanting.

Boozer mentioned Korver and Brewer as guys the Bulls would like. I think they would like Brewer.

Bulls need outside shooters. They've currently got zero of them.

Matthews got the job because he did what he was susposed to do on the floor, almost every play.

By and large, that was it. Sloan learned that he could trust Matthews.

If Haywood can do that, I think he could see some time. Doing what you are susposed to do every trip down is no easy feat though. You really have to have your head in the game. It really jsut shows how high of a BBIQ that Matthews has.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

s/Haywood/Hayward/

But yeah, I agree. I think Hayward is going to see some time.

I agree here, having the NBA ready body so he could step in and guard the Kobe Bryant's and Melo's helped Matthews more than anything. Really the only reason we even saw Matthews last year was due to injuries to Korver and C.J. Miles early on, where he was thrust onto the floor. If we have depth and no injuries, Hayward won't be playing anytime soon considering how weak his frame is right now.

AK was pretty damn weak coming in, and he started before Harpring stole his spotfollowing injury.

Kirilenko had also been playing professional basketball since he was 16 and I don't believe he came directly to the NBA after he was drafted.

True, but you specifically cited his weak frame as the reason he wouldn't play. AK's experience didn't have any bearing on his frame, and knowing how to use it was a problem for years with him. Hay will have similar issues probably, but his work ethic and skill level will earn him minutes from Jerry, in my opinion.
