I wonder if Tomic wasn't included in this deal because KOC is so high on him?? From all accounts Kahn likes tall euro centers, so I'm guessing he must be high on Tomic as well.

I'm looking forward to see what Tomic will do in a Jazz uniform in the 2011 season.

cap space is irrelavent.
we won't pay that much tax to get anyone of the quality of mike miller.

for all intents and purposes, barring a AK trade, Utah is done for the offseason besides signing min contracts, maybe brewer and maybe giving a multi-year offer to Fes.

KOC did what we all wanted him to do. We got something back for Boozer. We got a legit 20/10 big (able to play C). We got rid of Koufos (who had no future w/ Utah anyway). We avoided signing any toxic deals in this FA season of doom. And we're not going to be more than 2-3 mil over the cap at worst.

Deron is happy-ish, Owner is happy-ish, Fans are happy-ish. Nothing more you can ask of the guy, who heading into the offseason really didn't have much to work with... and Portland set about trying to screw us again this off-season. Let them eat that contract.

Really, besides Miami and Chicago, I can't think of a single other team who were bigger winners than Utah this offseason so far. Maybe OKC, depending on how Aldrich turns out.

KOC hinted in his radio interview that a deal (or two) could be done shortly...I dont think theyre only doing minimum deals.

We really need outside shooting and I hope that's what KOC is looking at.

Note* The Jazz may have their first ever all black starting line-up. Not sure if that has ever happened. Also not sure if I care. Just interesting side note.

You can have a combination of multiple TPEs and players in a trade. That is fine. What you cannot do is combining a TPE with a player contract or another TPE to get a player whose contract is too big to slot into the TPE alone.

In other words, if the Booze TPE wasn't big enough to slot in Jefferson's contract, you can't add another player's contract or another TPE to get around the cap. In this case, the Booze TPE is large enough to slot in Jefferson's contract, so the trade works.

Is anyone else hearing that the Jazz did NOT use the TPE for this trade?

How else could it have possibly been done, given cap issues?

I know, but with the KOC interview and in a couple articles I've seen, it isn't mentioned, but the picks and Kosta are. I guess it's just assumed. It just sounded weird how he said it, but it obviously was used.

O'Connor on radio: Jazz did use the TPE to absorb Jefferson's contract. As that would put them over the cap, there is no other way to consummate the deal short of sending more salary to Minnesota.

I think it was just assumed, but hey, stranger things have happened in Stern's NBA.

Very happy jazz fan tonight. I think Ak will be retained at least until the Trade deadline, and if we are in contention we hang on to him or try and improve the roster with that expiring deal. Regardless, we try and resign him next summer for a MLE type deal.

My guess is that Wes is done in utah, no way we can match that contract for a solid player like Wes. i love the guy, but he's not worth 9.2mil next season. I'm hoping we bring in two more players, ideally Ronnie Brewer and Shannon Brown/Matt Barnes. We need all three!

Deron/Brown/Price
CJ/Brewer
AK/Barnes/Hayward
Milsap/Memo
Jefferson/Fesenko
(Obviously Memo and Jefferson are both PF/C's)

I think that line up, and i must say UPGRADED!~

It's 9.2M for Mr. Miller, but it's only like 5M against the CAP.

You guys are glad Kosta is gone? Wow, must be a shock to Kosta and his high school coach, who were really PO'd that he went as low as he did in the '08 draft. KK's high school coach thought he should have gone higher and was quoted in a newspaper as saying KK was "completely misused" in college and that his teammates were "turds"

to be fair to Kosta he never really got the green light to shoot. I know when he was drafted, most of the experts were saying he was the "next Okur, this makes sense" type comments. But he never did get to shoot..just there for rebounds and garbage time.

When Jerry did put him in during the Boozer injury days, he did shine a little bit, but then the next year rumor was Kosta showed up a little heavy and not in great shape and Fesenko was the chosen one from that point on. Kosta was stuck to the bench but did see some playing time from time to time..

Anyway, he'll do MUCH better as a Timberwolf for sure as long as they give him the freedom to shoot the ball for once, but I'm glad he's gone. Fesenko>Koufus :)
