Hayward was the best player on the floor every game in the summer league with the exception of some of the 2nd and 3rd year guys that were playing, an he was even better than most of them. I hope he's getting 15-20 minutes a night and continues to develop.

How is he going to adapt to the NBA without playing in the NBA?

Hayward fits this team very well. How do you expect hayward to ever live up to his #9 spot without playing? He's not that weak either. He doesn't need to guard guys who are huge, he'll do fine against plenty of SF's and SG's. Maybe you should look at what you wrote and perhaps rephrase it because right now your not looking too bright on that comment.
It's not just adapting to the game but the lifestyle. More often than not, rookie players do wear down from the grind of an 82 game season. That's why a lot of them do end up hitting a rookie wall. There just aren't that many guys that can step in and play 82 games without fluctuating consistency. Then for a guy like Hayward, that doesn't exactly have the most NBA ready body, to play 16-20 minutes a game. You're depending on Hayward a lot here. You don't prove yourself as a #9 draft pick in your rookie year, it's more in the long run. NBA players usually don't become consistent until their 3rd or 4th year, typically not their rookie years. So if we want to depend on Hayward, especially with an injury prone Kirilenko, I guess we can. Bringing in a proven vet like a Bobby Simmons won't kill a team to bring in some competition. Plus you aren't breaking the bank, since the NBA pays back half the salary on minimum player that have been in the league for 3+ years. You're realistically paying the same as you would for a Sundiata Gaines or Jeffers.

Boy Scout moves like a clever player on the floor, and he's pretty effective (something difficult to do in summer league kind of chaotic games). He can contribute, and Jazz brass obviously have trust in him if they plan to start the seaosn with only Miles, Kirilenko, Bell and Hayward as their wing rotation.

Ditto on playing Hayward. Our wing spots have AK (expiring) and Raja (old and 3-yr contract) as probable starters. We need to develop Hayward ASAP, so let him play.
As for the big, if FO goes cheap, I want Augustine or Davidson. If it's a vet using what's left of the MLE, I say Kurt Thomas or Etan Thomas.

I think if we can offer Shannon Brown the remaining of the MLE then the Jazz get their back up point and shooting guards. The Lakers were only going to offer Raja Bell 1.8 so thats what they plan on offering Shannon Brown, but if the Jazz can counter with 2.4 per year for 3 or 4 years I think they should and that gives Brown over an extra half a million a year to play for the Jazz.
