Tomic could be a really great asset. I like assets. Hopefully we can trade a couple for a shot blocker over 6 '9 someday.

I really like Rudy's game, the guy is a lot of fun to watch. I doubt we can get him, but am all for trying.

I'm worried he'd just be Gordon Giricek #2.
On a GG note:
I saw GG advertising a footwork video. I about died laughing. I've never seen anyone travel on a greater percentage of first steps than GG.

Someone has it in their sig. It's awesome!
Anyway, from what I've seen of Tomic, I honestly think he is not going to amount to anything. Having said that, I haven't seen that much of him, but whenever I do, I'm terribly underwhelmed.

Just to clear Gordan's good name, the sig is a bit of jest. He doesn't actually have a footwork video (at least to my knowledge). If anyone finds out differently, please let me know, because I will line up for that ****.

Oh, you got me.
Good one.
Good one.

Re: Per WT....GO GET RUDY!
Um, Tomic's ceiling is probably closer to a rich man's Primo Brezec than Pau Gasol, and he could easily be a flame out. He's a decent piece, but I don't see his value being any more than a late 1st round pick right now (and since we used a 40ish pick to get him, that's appreciation on the investment right there). Tomic is long and skilled, but he's also extremely thin--almost to the point of being frail--and isn't particularly effective defensively or on the boards. I think he would be a nice 3rd big, potentially, but nothing to anchor the team or make a real difference.
Rudy, on the other hand, could be a star in the right system in my opinion. He's smart, skilled and athletic as hell. He can provide another ball handler to take a little of the load off Deron's shoulders and is an elite floor spacer and shooter coming off of pin downs. He's tailor made for our system, and a horrid fit for the Blazers. That's how you improve: finding a player who is undervalued due to his surroundings and who fits what you do, and then acquire him. That's what the Lakers did with Gasol, to the nth degree, and that's how you build an elite team unless you just have limitless assets.

Re: Per WT....GO GET RUDY!
I agree that Fernadez' skill set is good for Utah, but I'm not sure his game is. He's creative. Our offense might have the highest execution requirement of any in the league--he might feel tied up that way. He also fails to focus on man defense. If he was smart enough, he could take his talents and rip it up in Utah, I totally agree with your assessment there, but I just don't think he has the discipline to do it.

This is pretty much it. Portland has spent the last couple of offseasons trying to get better at the Jazz's expense. They're not going to turn around and do the opposite now, unless they can totally rip us off in the process.

Re: Per WT....GO GET RUDY!
as i like the player, we won't trade with portland, period.
Seems Wes will cost Portland a lot of money and a talented player.
