Say it ain't so, Cold! You hate with so little provocation, I was sure you'd have our backs on this one! 8-)

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised myself. Normally I would be cheering on the executioner but there is something wrong with all the Lebron backlash that just doesn't jive with my kind of hating.

FWIW, I definitely want the Heat to fail though... classic implosion from the heavy expectations. I think egos will clash and get bruised and a general discontent will plague the Heat.

So even though I don't hate Lebron, I do want him to utterly fail.

I think there are two things that will keep the Heat from failing, and will give them much success as they are currently constructed.

1. LeBron James ego on the floor is not as big as someone like Kobe's, and therefore you won't have a Shaq/Kobe situation erupt over whose team is it.

2. Pat Riley is a master of dealing with ego's. If anyone in the league can handle 3 superstars it's him.

Plus I just don't see them as having any trouble winning games, and when you are winning, everybody is happy.

I'm pretty sure the Celtics made the playoffs that year.

I think he is talking about the year Duncan got drafted - of course a lot of teams tanked that year and one of them ended up winning : )

Quick question. Who won the most games in the NBA last season?

So, I like what I saw in the wiretap today. Paul made a nice statement about where he thinks the Hornets are headed after having a team meeting. I hope it's true, and that all the other BS has been false or blown out of proportion.

Who knows, maybe they threatened to trade him to the Pacers...

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Why do you have to have loyalty to a town you just happened to be born in? 98% of the other players in the league don't play for their home town, who cares if James does? Should we be mad at D-Wade for signing in Chicago because that is his hometown? Give me a break. Cleveland tanked an entire season with hopes of getting him, that's a far worse practice than leaving a team legally in free agency. If I made 100's of millions of dollars, I might keep a house in SLC, but you better believe I would spend the majority of my time NYC in the summer and Florida or Cali in the winter.

Another thing I don't get is, if he had left for Chicago to join Amare, or if he had recruited Bosh to head to Chicago with him, would people be mad? How much different is leaving Cleveland for a team with Bosh, Rose, and Noah than leaving a team for Bosh and Wade?

I just think it's funny that people here act like they wouldn't do exactly what LeBron is doing also. I know at my work I have a checklist of things I look for that make up a good job, why should he be any different.

I want to be successful: Winning championships is the definition of success.
I want to enjoy the people I work with: He and Wade and Bosh are very old friends.
I want to work with people who are as competent as I am: No better than Wade and Bosh.
I want to work in a fun environment: South Beach vs. The mistake by the Lake
I want to like my bosses: Dan Gilbert vs. Pat Riley

As far as growing as a player, he's taken that crappy team to back to back 60 win seasons only to be ousted in the second round twice. That roster around him is terrible and Byron Scott wasn't lying, they probably drop to a 30 win team with out James. Why should he have to hope that his incompetent owner/GM can trade for players to make his team better? KG did that and said it was the worst mistake of his career. It's not easy to rely on other people to do things for you, being proactive is the best way to do it. Instead of waiting to acquire a guy like Amare in a trade he decided to join a team that already had those pieces in place. Why is that such a bad thing? Teams aren't dying to give away their best players to other teams. Nobody was offering Gasol to the Cavs for garbage. Why should LeBron have to be a martyr to keep the town of Cleveland happy?

All of this self righteousness from fans is a mirage trying to disguise the envy of another team having what we want. Are we seriously going to say we would turn down LeBron or Kobe or Wade in free agency for the sake of competition?

LeBron wants to win championships, and he put himself in the best possible position to do it. What is wrong with that?

A lot of people care about mentality. It's not really that hard to understand. Do you have trouble understanding why people love Jordan and Magic for this http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1042221?

I don't think people would have been as hard on LeBron if he had gone to Chicago or New York to be the man. Amare and Bosh will never be greats, but Wade is. Miami is Wade's team, where Wade has already willed his way to a championship with a fading supporting cast. Aside from Cleveland, I don't think people are so much mad at LeBron as they are disappointed. They wanted to see that Jordan/Bird/Magic mentality in LeBron, but he didn't have it.

It didn't make him a worse person than you or any other average man is, it just made him not Jordan/Bird/Magic. He left the teammates who helped get him reach the NBA championship games so he can win a title more easily. It wasn't a case of KG and the hopeless wolves. People didn't think KG was in the running for the greatest ever in the first place anyway.

This is not about envy for Miami; this is about disappointment in LeBron. All these "why not take the easy way out" cynics coming out of the woodwork to defend LeBron does not make it harder to understand why LeBron's choice has proven so disappointing to so many, it makes it easier.
