Re: Locke Breakdown of the Utah Jazz Schedule
My take is that the safe prediction would be around 52 wins, but that there's a higher possible variance (in both directions) from that prediction than in the past couple years. I could see the Jazz winning anywhere between 45 and 59 games this year.

I think the Jazz will win about 54 games.

Who cares what your prediction is? This is the schedule thread. Have you all looked at their schedule and evaluated which games are winnable or are you just guessing how many wins they will have based on last year and new players?
Injuries, slumps, disagreements are all separated from the schedule and impact the overall outcome of course, I understand that. But based on schedule alone the Jazz in my opinion could win up to 73 games this year... if they do what they should, stay healthy, play together, and simple just play well-Sloan-type basketball

Your expectations are a bit high. The Jazz are good, but look at Miami, LA, Boston, etc. There are team with just as much star power as Utah that don't realistically have a chance at 73 wins, and we certainly won't reach that with our shooting guard rotation, Memo's injury and the uncertainty of how Millsap and Jefferson can work together.

I don't think his point is necessarily relevant, but what he was saying is that one should evaluate the schedule in a vacuum from other forces. So, taking our roster (not factoring in injuries, chemistry , etc.), and looking at who we're playing and when, it is possible, he says, for us to win 73 games.

I'm guessing 47-35 this year.

Re: Locke Breakdown of the Utah Jazz Schedule
Winning 73 games is never a possibility on a Sloan coached team because he relies on the players for their own motivation. This is based on his statements not my opinion.

So what does your rationale say about all the other teams and coaches that never won 73 games? It doesn't look like a lot of "motivators" are breaking the 70-win mark, either. What has there been? One? So Jackson and who else?

Re: Locke Breakdown of the Utah Jazz Schedule
I agree most teams have no real chance. My only point was that on those special teams that win alot of games there needs to be mutiple points of motivation. Because on any given night somebody just may not have it, but a motivator may be able to eke out a few more wins by pushing the right buttons. In an 82 games schedule it is almost impossible for any team to be up for every game; otherwise we wouldn't see Minnesota beating Utah.

Imagine if we actually did get 73 wins. What would Boozer's reaction be
