This almost makes me feel like Dallas is inviting Dee Brown in hopes that Deron will decide to leave for "greener pastures". I would bet money that Dee will mysteriously make the team and try to persuade Deron to join him on the Mavs.

I just saw that Dee Brown was invited to Mavs camp. Do you think the Mavs will allow Dee Brown to make the team in the hopes that Deron Williams asks to be traded Dallas to go home and be on same team as his friend. I dont think it has much effect on DWILL but maybe the Mavs think it does. Dee Brown is an NBA player but timing of it seems a little interesting. Mavs likely grasping at straws as they see their team deteriating right before their own eyes.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Can't fault the Mavs for prepping for the future though, they have precious little of it right now.

If Deron leaves--IF--it won't be to go to the Mavs. They have been able to make a lot of moves because they've had the big fella to build around for so long. In two years he'll be 34 and definitely on the down swing. The rest of their nucleus will be done by then. They will have to conduct a full scale re-build project, and I highly doubt Deron will leave a team that has an impressive array of talent around him already to be the foundation for a 2 or 3 year process like that.
No, if Deron leaves, it will have to be for a team that is in place to be a championship favorite immediately, otherwise it would simply be a lateral (or backwards) move from where he's already at. Dallas is not it. We're talking about a OKC, Orlando, LAL, maybe Portland type situation, one that is already a great team but needs one more elite piece to take it over the top. Not Dallas.
This is irresponsible journalism (if you can even call it that). Marc Stein is an even bigger douche than I already thought he was.
