C.J. Miles' career at a crossroads

Entering his sixth season, it'd be fair to describe C.J. Miles as being at a crossroads in his career.

For the moment, he's motoring through the intersection of Untapped Potential and Veteran Expectations.

But on the first day of a training camp that he hope precedes a breakout season, Miles took a quick detour along What Might Have Been Way.

Texas legend Rick Barnes was among the visiting coaches observing Jazz practice Tuesday. As y'all might recall, he would've been Miles coach in college had the swingman not leaped into the NBA out of his Dallas high school.

After watching the 2010 version of Miles, Barnes only wishes the sixth-year pro and 2005 Texas commit still had some college eligibility remaining as another player he once recruited, Deron Williams, jokingly told him was the case.

No korver no brewer if this guy doesnt start being consistent then its no where but down we need at least 15 plus a night from this kid not 20 points then fives games straight below 10

He can score and was the chucker at the start of last season. He has to just play smart and he will get his points and make the team better. We need the playoff CJ not the early season CJ. I think he crossed the road to a successful NBA carreer during last years playoffs. The Jazz were smart to keep him for what now appears to be a reasonable contract.

I always think he'll be more comfortable as the scorer from the second unit. He needs the green light. I don't ever think he'll be good at getting his in between other players that are better than him, which is what it takes to be consistent at his level. He's not good enough to get enough ball on a starting unit, but he could be active enough in a second unit to be effective.
