Mchale Comments on the Al Jefferson trade

If the Jazz make a leap this year, people are going to be talking about this trade along the same lines as the Pau Gasol deal, even though when it first went down it was greeted more along the lines of "solid deal for the Jazz (but he's not as good as Boozer)"....I'm going to enjoy the revisionist history.

No i dont agree that team had kobe bynum lamar, if we made another trade like othyus jefferes and cj miles for dwight howard or a an allstar then you can say that

You do realize that we basically got Al for nothing, right? Kosta Koufos and we lost out on the memphis pick. Seriously, this trade likely won't be as massive as the Pau trade, but it will certainly have people scratching their heads at how KOC was able to pull it off. When all is said and done, Al may not be that far off from Dwight Howard. He is certainly not the defensive force Howard is (though he has blocked quite a few shots), but he is a hell of a lot better offensively. Howard still has a very limited bag of tricks offensively, and Al is a wonder (from what I've seen so far).

I understand that Minnesota got a "true" center in Darko, and relatively cheap too, and they prefered Love, ok fine, makes sense, BUT why the hell didn't they get a good player at one of their weaker positions, which are basically all their positions except PF. Did they really need to have the NBA's lowest payroll? Kahn is a fool.

Saying Al isn't the defensive presence of Dwight but is better offensively is like saying he isn't as smart as Steven Hawking but he's a better dancer.

I don't really think that's a good comparison, since dancing and Mr. Hawking's work have no relation whatsoever, as opposed to defense and offense in the game of basketball. And anyway, I thought Al was an MVP candidate this year, wasn't he?

(Though I obviously agree that Howard is a much better player, and that his defense outweighs Al's offense.)
