This keeps getting suggested by people. What exactly do you want Malone to teach these guys? You think he has any experience coaching big men? As I've said before, the things that made Karl great were personality/physical traits: his work ethic, his drive, his ability to play hurt, the enormous chip on his shoulder.

Just because he has those traits doesn't mean he knows how to instill them in others.

As for his skill set, I'd personally prefer not to have Karl teach the young guys all the sneaky/dirty tricks he learned (and used far too often in his later years).

you think every play is clean in the NBA. The difference between a vet and a rok are those sneaky tricks. Your right about what makes karl great. You cant teach personality , drive and desire but what were hoping for is for a small bit of those traits to just rub off on players.

On a side note I dont think or at least hope that utah is still looking for more trades as the deadline nears. I dont see us keeping that many PF.

still don't know why they passed on Cousins to get Favors, but I guess that's our problem now

Not our problem, Cousins is an absolute nightmare to deal with. If you thought DWill was bad, just look at Cousins. He has the worst attitude/ego in the league in his rookie season!

He's got insane potential.

Can't wait to see how he works in our line up. I was really praying we'd get him last year in the draft by lucking out with a top 3 pick. Other thank Griffin obviously, I can't think of a young PF with a brighter future.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Finally a guy that has a shot at developing into an elite big man. Not these undersized PFs who can't defend anybody, but a true-blue, dyed-in-the-wool shot blocker and rebounder who can anchor a defense.

If Favors fulfills his potential, this trade will be considered a winning move just by virtue of moving from small to big, regardless of what happens with the draft picks. I'm all about Favors now. I hope he doesn't rip my heart out! :)

He's an undersized canter instead! Well, I do think he has Dwight Howard potential though.

He and Jefferson have the same standing reach. That's a good size for a front line.

He'll put on weight, he's only 19. He could keep on growing. He's also very similar in dimensions to Emeka Okafor. I don't know much about his game or abilities, so I'm excited to start watching.

Are we more excited about him than we are about Harris?

I am freaking stoked for both players. We finally have the right kind of PF/C combo to be able to compete with the Lakers. Now, if we could get a high-scoring wing for a combination of AK, Bell, and Okur, we would be set for the future. Get 'R Done KOC!!!!

To whoever said hiring Malone to coach the big men is a terrible idea...

The point isn't the Malone is a phenomenal teacher. It's that players respect former players, and especially historically great players. Its why so many coaches are former players. They're probably not the top 32 Xs and Ox guys, or even the top 32 teachers / communicators. Its that it's easier to compel a 19 yr old to do something when they respect your opinion when speaking from experience.

I'd love to see Karl be our strength and conditioning coach. He should just come in and show players vintage footage of guys bouncing off him as he rumbled down the paint for two more of his 30,000+ points, and maybe that would motivate these guys to hit the weights and work on their game....

Karl has a lot to teach about the low post game including clear out 1v1s, passing from the post, establishing a midrange face-up game, etc, not to mention passing his toughness on. Favors would most definitely listen to Karl, and it sounds to me like Karl is ready to teach.
