Here's why he won't:
$11M per year tied up with Jordan Farmar and Travis Outlaw!
I could not believe they signed either of those two after losing out on Lebron. They did great getting morrow, and even better getting deron....
But that $11M per year could be the equivalent of a max player contract after the next cba. They should have save the cap space and taken on more expiring salary at this trade deadline to acquire more picks and assets. But never, never invest $11M per on those two trash players.
It is a mistake that they will regret in 18 months when Deron walks cause they didn't add anything because their cap hands were tied with those terrible contracts.

I truly believe he wants to win a championship. If the nets can't improve drastically he's gone no matter how much they offer him. He may end up in LA, the Lakers that is. You really think he'd play for a org like the clippers retiredcoach? No he wants to play with Kobe and Gasol.

I am not completely sold on Bolerjak... He said that Deron has always had a grass is always greener on the other side mentality. He doubts that Deron will ever play for another team for 5 years like he did here.
He wears people out and his welcome with his personality.

It depends on what the Clippers do in the off season. They've got a lot of cap space this coming year and huge cap space in 12 when Williams is available. With max contracts going to Griffin and Williams, they would still have a lot of money to spend on other parts. They've got a lottery pick in the draft this year.
I know everyone says that Williams wants to win a championship. We'll see. I believe his priorities are family, money, friends, winning, then championship. I'm thinking his wife already likes California a lot better than she will NJ or New York. I lived there. It's a pain in the ass. Not to mention hugely expensive. Deron doesn't want to be separated from his family, so he's not going to live in NJ or New York in a rental for the season while the wife and kids stay in California. He has a baby nearly here. Right now the price for the kind of place Williams would consider adequate for his family is around $1500 to $2000 a square foot. (Yes, I know he can buy a house in burbs cheaper (maybe $500 to $750 a square foot) , but then there's one hell of a commute.) On top of that there's annual maintenance fees and property tax that will cost him another $200,000 grand a year. NJ or NY state and city income taxes alone are going to cost him $500,000 a year more than he was paying in Utah. I know he makes a lot of money, but he wants to keep it. In addition to housing there's the cost of transportation, school for the kids (which is another pain) and all the other associated BS with living there. He won't stay in the east once he lives there a year. At least I don't think so, but again one never knows! Stranger things have happened.
Williams likes Griffin. If Griffin is going to re-sign long term with the Clippers, Williams would give it serious consideration. If Griffin is going to walk then they won't be on his list. Williams loves to play golf. LA and San Diego have great courses with great weather. LA is a big market even for the Clippers as long as they have a star player and they're building with smart free agents and draft picks. Two star players and their value in the LA market zooms up.
LA is in it's declining years. It would be another year before Williams would get there. The rose is coming off that bloom and I don't know if he could keep the rose fresh. LA has come up with mystical magical players before just when it looked like they might be slipping. So who knows what they will have in 2 years.
Williams is right. The CBA agreement is pivotal. Even though I don't think the NBA will limit player movement, either cap space or a franchise tag could be a problem. So that might change his strategy.
Right now, it's all speculation.

Clippers have a lot of cap space and tons of young talent ever 2-3 years but it never works out for them. It is LA but they are still and will most likely always be a joke of a little brother.
There are reports that he and Dwight are going to work something out.

Deron and Dwight can't both go to the Lakers with Kobe and Gasol there....
Dwight to the Nets in 2012. You heard it here first

That would be sweet, especially if they're still 30 and 52!

1) Not a team that has won in a very long time. Yes they made the finals 10 years ago, but since then they've been pretty much a laughing stock. Their owner has a lot of money, but they mortgaged their future just to get Deron. Instead of building around the draft, they've left everything up to getting a superstar in FA, and that is a crap shoot at best, especially when you aren't a major franchise that players are dying to go play for.
2) The Nets aren't going to do **** in the next year and a half. They are a lottery team this year, with no pick. They don't have enough talent on the roster outside of Deron to make any trades to improve significantly, and they got rid of all of their young talent in Favors and Terrence Williams that could have been the third option to Deron and their next all-star, who they still have no promise of signing.
3) The media is nuts in NY/NJ, and Deron hates the media. If the Nets suck this year, (which they will) and next year (which almost seems like a guarantee, see points 1 & 2) the media is going to blame Deron, and he'll blame the organization just like he did here.
4) He is going to have several suitors come 2012. The Clippers are going to be a huge draw with Griffin and Gordon, and you can guaratnee NYC will be looking to pick him up. While playing in Brooklyn will be cool, LA is just as cool, and NYC is cooler than Brooklyn.
Just came in here to say that is is a lie. After making the finals in 2002 and 2003 we advanced passed the 1st round 3 times. Even challening the 2004 detroit pistons to 7 games (more than any team including the Lakers). We beat the Pacers in 06 and lost to the eventual champion Heat. In 07 we lost to the Cavs.. the eastern conference champs that year. Sure we haven't been to the playoffs since but to say we've been a lughinstock since then is ridiculous. We've had more success since 03 than the Wizards, Knicks, Raptors, Clippers, Grizzlies, Pacers, Bucks, Bobcats, 76ers, Wolves etc... HARDLY a laughingstock..
